Yup. After I hooked up I noticed the trailer sat kind of higher than I expected (it's an "off road" version, so has a bit of ground clearance).
I have a standard 2" drop hitch on it... i wonder if I change to a 1" drop it would improve things? It sits at a slight downward angle with the R1T...
Three times. Each stop was around 30% to 80%. (Prescribed by the nav)
Could also be the 20" mud tires, or off road tires on trailer.
70mph around here is a requirement tbh.. at that I was getting passed by semi-trucks.
Picked up a 19' R-POD thinking it was a bit smaller and wouldn't cut into the range loss as much.
Trailer:
* 19' Length, kind of high
* ~ 2500 lbs
* Sway control bar attached, mid friction
Trip:
* 214 miles total
* 75F outside
* 70 mph freeway for most of the trip with ~400m elevation incline...
2022 R1T Launch Edition. Had a bad "creak" in the rear passenger suspension when adjusting height or going over (slight) bumps. Sounded horrible in parking lots.
I wish they gave a little more information, but it sounds like some incorrect torque caused damage to the lower longitudinal...
So... I just went through this. I was heading out of town last weekend and swapped the rear tire to the front on the passenger side (tread getting low, a bit more tread on the rear so wanted that for conserve mode)
Pretty bad vibration at 50mph+. It calmed down around 60 or 65mph, and gets...
I've had a horrific squeek from the rear. Last time I took it into service (an hour away), the truck decided to be absolutely silent just in time for my service appointment. "Unable to reproduce"
Of course 3 days later, i'm back to squeeking over every slight bump and wave in the road.
* First Rivian service loaner was a Chevy Cruze?
* They then got me into an R1T loaner with hail damage since the work took over week (new front drive unit)
* Second Rivian loaner was an Audi
Honestly, i'd be ok with anything not cheap GM or Ford.
I have all the adapters. The official Rivian (Tesla) one isn't anything to get excited about. It absolutely does the job, and does it well. The official adapter is kind of cheap plastic feeling though and the pins get *HOT* when in use. I think they're building them down to a price and...
Rivian has been tossing V2G, V2H around for a while.. they've also been tossing around V2V for charging.
In the V2V case, that's absolutely a battery -> Inverter 30-40A -> vehicle -> cable -> vehicle -> inverter -> battery config. The onboard inverter *must* be able to do at least 32A...
Right, there's a ton of "soft" info floating around. I get the ambiguity around V2X since the hardware is all early, however stuff like "ISO 15118" isn't documented at all (even though our vehicles likely support some parts of it today)
I'd love for Rivian to document:
* ISO 15118-1 supported...
I'm now undertaking a holy mission to get this crap documented :-)
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/trying-to-figure-out-if-iso-15118-official-plug-and-charge-is-supported.27755/#post-537683
There have been a few bread crumbs (like this article which says "Rivian supports it"), but none have any references directly to Rivian.
https://rivian.com/support/general-specifications would be a great place to put "Technical Charging Specifications" or something Rivian!
I'm a nerd. I can't find *anything* besides Rivian Adventure Network documentation covering support of ISO 15118 (the "official plug and charge") on R1 vehicles.
My reasoning is I *REALLY* want Rivian to better document the lower level specs supported by their vehicles. This is important...
Yeah, to be clear:
* V2L is generally one or more 120v or 220v outlets powered by the onboard vehicle charge inverter running "in reverse" connected to the standard J1772 port. Rivian's onboard inverter is 11.5kW max charging... so in theory a standard 110v (~1.6kW) outlet would be easy to...
So, Rivian has been back-burner promising V2H, V2G on their current vehicles for a while now. Actual V2G and V2H hardware though is few and far apart as things stand today.
*However* V2L adapters have existed for a while and are available for a variety of vehicles.
Has anyone tried plugging a...
As for Sandy, I don't care what he thinks. He's a smart dude, but he has bad takes sometimes. I think his position was fair if "Elon downsized supercharging", however from all accounts it sounded like Elon went postal and laid everyone off.
My gut feel is quality will degrade, then he'll...
OMG. This would be the best. Then EA could immediately cancel the NACS rollout and switch everyone (including superchargers) back to CCS :CWL:
I think the scenario above shows Elon wouldn't sell the whole SC network. His ego is too big.
