And many of those early owners, myself included, want that quad experience again. Deciding that the most recently introduced option is the inherent choice is the recency effect on steroids.
Again, that is not making sense to me. it is a risk to take what is likely your highest volume volume configuration and change it to a low volume configuration, in the hoax that people will accept a three motor in its place. I'm not seeing that.
For what it's worth, this configuration is what Rivian cut their teeth on, and was their only configuration at launch. It is what they wanted to show the world. It's also likely Rivian's most popular configuration, even at the time of this new launch. "someone's ideal here" seems to imply that...
Again, that is an entirely solvable engineering problem. would be very surprised if Rivian eliminates what is likely their most popular configuration in the very appealing middle ground price point.
I have a quad R1T now that has less HP and less range. Why do you feel that the same would not be possible in the Gen 2. It would of course cost less without the Max pack.
What requirement would that be? That's not making sense to me at all. It would have lower horsepower and less range. That certainly a solvable engineering problem.
As this is been a hugely popular configuration in Gen 1, it presents an obvious hole in the revised lineup. Any others who love quad all terrain but may have no need for the Max pack and additional (superfluous?) horsepower. It seems like a natural that we will see this.

I picked up an R1S quad two days ago. It's going back. Way too many improvements and updates on the new generation. Roughly...
That is it exactly. A "Garage Mode" that temporarily disabled or greatly reduced regen/auto braking at super near stop speeds would be great. Any speed above 5 mph could activate a return to previous regen setting.
I spoke with support and they asked for images and said a repair guy would likely need to visit. Awesome service so far! Regarding Tesla, we had a Model S 2021 which had a number of issues upon delivery. Panel gaps, frunk closure, floor panels came off, etc. It was a bad first impression for...
I appreciate the responses. It is the pulling back in part that is the problem :). It seems like the mechanism can disengage and then it floats slightly without motion until reengaged.
First week with my R1T and loving it! My charge door went non- responsive yesterday after a full charging at home. Stuck in the open position after the charger plug was removed. Tried the button, fob and dash interface. Plugged in and out a few times to see if that would help. Gave it a...
