  1. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

So, as a follow up to my earlier email, I spoke to both Michael Bernardo at Steingold Volvo and Heather Moyer at Tom Wood Audi Indianapolis, the latter of whom I’ve purchased warranties in the past. Michael can’t sell in CA or Florida. Heather is selling me a warranty for a little over $4,218...
  2. Max Pack vs Large Pack range test (by Out of Spec)

This is about what I assumed the difference would be and still ultimately went with the max. My reasons were the following: 1. Over time, as the battery degrades, I’ll still be happy getting 300+ miles out of the max, but would be cutting it too close getting 270 out of the large, 2. If I...
  3. Please help me make final choice on my pre price-hike config

I don’t really understand this concern. It’s just a one year difference. Also, you can buy a 10 year warranty (I.e six years beyond the Rivian warranty) for about $4,200, so it’s not that valuable a difference.
  4. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

It would also be nice if Rivian offered a prepaid maintenance package like Audi Care. I still have no idea what’s involved for regular maintenance or what it will cost (the rep on the demo drive pretty noticeably dodged the question).
  5. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

That dealership is in Rhode Island. Some dealerships won’t sell out of state (some will). That may also partially explains the lower pricing. We may want to find a dealership/broker willing to get special rates for this forum. There’s one like that with the R8 forum, and it’s worked out...
  6. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

Thanks for sharing. This is a good example of the importance of mileage. The Fidelity warranty is refundable prorata, but on a new car that means that after you run through the manufacturer’s warranty you’d only get about 50% back. I’m sure that’s factored into the pricing the OP quoted. For...
  7. Interesting Washington Post article on EA Reliability

I think this could be a huge part of the problem. When you go to a gas station, most people understand that they can’t just leave their cars at the pump for more than a minute or two longer than it takes to fill up. Because charging stations are often near the handicap parking, I would imagine...
  8. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

In my experience, you can even purchase a Fidelity warranty after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired, it just makes the price go up. People in the R8 forum are still obtaining Fidelity warranties on 2012 cars (although, I think this is the last year to do so). It will be interesting to...
  9. What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

I have one for my R8 and it is amazing! I’m 3 for 3 on claims paid. Fidelity is highly thought of in the R8 world. The only question is whether you buy it now or wait until just before the Rivian warranty runs out. If you think the mileage will be relatively low, you may want to wait...
  10. Less than stellar delivery experience at Costa Mesa

What’s even crazier is that Costa Mesa is basically the flagship Service Center given its proximity to Rivian HQ. I’m almost surprised that RJ doesn’t drop in there every week or two. If that’s what’s allowed to happen in their backyard, they need to get their heads back in the game. Just...
  11. Six wishes for Rivian to enhance my R1S ownership experience

I don’t need to make an argument for allowing the car to do something reckless and illegal. You have yet to make a single argument for why it SHOULD have that capability. You are obviously one of those libertarian types who want all the freedom and none of the responsibility. To quote the...
  12. Six wishes for Rivian to enhance my R1S ownership experience

Personally, I’d be fine setting it at 90, but I’m happy they are responsible enough to place a limitation at 110. There’s no sensible reason to increase that limit. it also probably helps keep our insurance rates down, so that’s a bonus.
  13. Good guide experience so far.

So, I’ve read a number of posts about non-responsive guides. As a fair counter, I confirmed an R1S from the store and have found the guide to be responsive so far. I had two issues and the guide responded to both and addressed them. I understand that people have had subpar experiences. I’m...
  14. Six wishes for Rivian to enhance my R1S ownership experience

The fact that there are people who think that others, including laws, shouldn’t control excessively dangerous behavior that risks the lives of people who did not accept the risk is EXACTLY why there should be a governor. Imagine the Rivian executive being deposed by the lawyers for some dead...
  15. Six wishes for Rivian to enhance my R1S ownership experience

I like all except #5. The last thing we need are 7,000 lbs vehicles moving that fast. Basically, certain death for anything it hits.
  16. R1S stuck on road in 3 months

Well, you’re free to post whatever you like. My experience with Audi has been better than what I’ve read on this forum about Rivian, but not always perfect. The difference is that the other owners in the R8 forum tend to acknowledge subpar service, not defend it. If someone complained that...
  17. R1S stuck on road in 3 months

I’m new here and expecting to take delivery by the end of the year on an R1S. As a general matter, I think the Rivian Kool Aid folks actually do a bit of disservice to the brand. The OP had a legitimately bad experience. I think acknowledging that it is bad and that Rivian needs to improve...
