First, to OP's question: the cast "frame" is a significant benefit. Tesla Model Y uses it with significant benefit. Glad to see Rivian following with the use of this technology: it makes a better vehicle.
@Donald Stanfield , you're wrong on this one. My buddy Mongo posted some relevant...
Hard disagree! Hands off the steering wheel is very, very hard problem to solve. Tesla had years of C++ code but threw out that approach, realizing it is not feasible to program/code for so many "edge cases." Only with the advent of AI and the driving model based on AI are they able to get...
Hi @mike91 check out this post for at-home charging:

Agree. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector allows you to charge--without separate adaptor--your Gen1 and Gen2 Rivian with CCS/J1772 port, and the upcoming Rivian Gen2+ with native NACS. Plus it is WiFi enabled and pretty much bomb-proof.
When I added my teen driver to my Tesla insurance, my monthly insurance premium increased by $0 to add her. Yes, $0. Later, adding her car onto my policy made the cost increase 2x. This is to be expected, since my vehicle count was 2x. Tesla insurance is available in Oregon...
Unfortunately I am keeping my ICE pickup (2004 with 105k) and will be replacing it with another in the next 1-3 years because I (1) drive to remote places aka BF Idaho (2) hire shuttle drivers for these remote drives while I'm going point A to point B down a river (3) sometimes tow a trailer in...
"The transition-team plan would redirect money now flowing to building charging stations and making EVs affordable into national-defense priorities, including securing China-free supplies of batteries and the critical minerals to build them."
"While batteries, minerals and other EV components...
Plug-in hybrids are 3x more likely than gas-only vehicle to catch on fire.
Pure EV is significantly less likely than gas-only vehicle to catch on fire.
That said, we all know an EV fire is very different from a gas vehicle fire; specifically, more difficult for firefighters to manage and put...
There sure as F* is! The credit goes to manufacturer of the vehicle when the vehicle enters a lease agreement. In other words, the lease credit is passed on to person leasing the vehicle. Rivian (and Lucid) sales significantly benefit from this tax policy.
Agree these national parks need charging options. And they align with Rivian's stated goals.
Monticello, UT, is a real treat /s when two EVs are charging...30 kW max. But at least the cost $0.00 helps.
Tesla Supercharger Moab, UT
Tesla Supercharger Kayenta, AZ
Free Utah chargers in Monticello, Bluff, UT etc.
New EA chargers at Lions Park, Moab
No reason for Rivian to expand in Moab, given the multiple DC options....
