Hmmm....Tesla Model Y $50k minus $12,500 Colorado/Federal tax credits = $37,500
my actual fuel costs first 10,000 miles: $300
That's like buying 85 gallons at $3.50/gal which moves ICE car 2,150 miles at 25 mpg. And skipping two oil changes at 5k mile intervals ($30-50 x 2 DIY)...
Congrats to Rivian team. And now....it is time for the R2 to come to market.
Considering the price of Rivian R1 versus Ford Mustang ME, the #4 position is even more impressive.
Yes. Drew Baglino is an exceptional engineering talent. Either Rivian or Lucid would benefit greatly from his services.
Even more so, given the push to bring R2 series to market to fend off the demise of Rivian.
I’m comparing to Ford XLT trim with large battery aka 320 mile range— current price $65-67k minus Ford $7500 incentive.
Rivian needs to reduce prices on as many vehicles possible (like ones priced $80,000.01 to $86k) to under $80k tax credit threshold
wow, as if the anti-$RIVN FUDsters aren't out in force, here's another anti-EV post.
Poster must be a new intern at WSJ or some other anti-EV media outlet.
Agree. If the R1T was under $80k with 20 inch rims, I, and many other prospective buyers, would have purchased a R1 long ago.
These need to be under $80k. If Lucid and Tesla and Ford are dropping prices and seeing sales increase dramatically, Rivian needs to do the same. $RIVN would benefit.
I agree.
But.... Ford Lightning XLT 320 mile range with road tires is currently $67k minus $7,500 Ford discount. As a long-time Rivian lookie-lou (I missed the pre-price hike reservation by 10 days) the $59,500 price of the Ford versus $80k for similar R1T is going to hurt Rivian sales. The...
The difference in energy use between my 2018 Tesla Model 3 with resistance heater versus 2023 Tesla Model Y with heat pump is significant. In the winter, camping outdoors overnight with heat pump equiped EV while plugged into a 16a charger and temps in the 5-20*F range, once the car reaches...
I find it interesting that BMW (1) makes a profit on their EV sales and (2) builds EVs, hybrids, and ICEmobiles on the same assembly line.
Seems like Ford and Chevy should hire a few BMW production engineers. And same with Rivian. $RIVN will be thankful.
Happened to my 1992 Honda hatchback. Neither eco-friendly wire coating or a Tesla/ EV (not newsworthy lol).
Unfortunately can occur to any vehicle with plastic or rubber, mice lovez to chew. Yes, some contemporary wire coatings taste better, in addition to advantageous automotive uses.
lots of...
Why the F* anyone in Colorado or Utah or similar would buy a Subaru at this point I cannot imagine. If I was an executive at Subaru with the "100 mile range EV, only takes an hour to charge" I would start looking for another job. I predict their core demographic of younger adults will stop...
I wish Rivian just had the foresight to put the R1 charging port front/passenger or rear/driver side. you know, back in 2019-2020 when the R1 was in development. Sigh...
Yeah... My rear-driver side charge port works great in my garage. My home EVSE is located front/center of the garage. Right side parking spot (from car's perspecitve, entering), park head-in. Left side parking spot, back in.
This way both rear-driver side charge ports are in the center of...
