Not necessarily. R1T is a lifestyle truck, Lightning is a work truck. The $40K version of the Lightning is critical for fleet purchases/sales. Rivian has no option for such fleets to even consider. So, it is a very valid point that CNN and others are making about a critical difference.
On the...
I hear you and relate to your position. So much so that I put my money on a Raptor. Once I drive the Raptor for 6 mo. to 1 year, depending on what is happening with Rivian or some other models, I might change my direction. If nothing in the market is really interesting, I'll keep the Raptor.
I...
Maybe, I'd probably buy a sedan. Two things make me interested: (1) UI/UX looks way better, coupled with just enough analog touches, great driver-oriented cockpit; (2) they know EV performance and chassis tuning, much more so than - I suspect - Tesla and Rivian.
If I like the interior better, I...
In large part, my original question starting this thread wasn't about the vehicles, but the perception towards the product and the contribution of socio-economic factors if any. I stated my question very broadly to be able to get as diverse input as I could. I am still in awe of the Tesla fan...
@HimuraMOdo hard to argue with your points. I'll still pick one, which has been my main argument outside of these forums: EVs and other electricity-hungry approaches will certainly drive electric power plant constructions and expansions. However, such constructions and improvements to the...
If I understood his comments correctly, he says that Tesla's results are consistently estimating their EPA results higher than their (InsideEVs') testing, and all other manufacturers' results are consistently underestimating, from a range perspective. He goes on to explain that EPA provides two...
I will avoid writing a whole thesis on this here, and also state that I am not a participant, but a close observer in the energy industry with a very specific angle of view.
We are seeing that renewable energy solutions are having significant problems in generating sufficient power in the face...
I don't know when it all started, but I think today's society, and I should limit this to American metropolitan areas, has come to accept degraded quality, faults, and errors in many things. Or maybe it was always like that and I just did not realize it somehow.
My first car was a Chevy...
During a tight turn with four independent motors, you can send positive torque to outer wheels and negative torque to inner wheels. During a U-turn, all wheels get positive torque, but outter wheels get multiples of inner wheels, front wheels get higher torque than rears. During a Tank-turn...
This is from a 21 vehicle review that is being done by a mostly amateur group of offroaders. They found the R1T to be so intriguing that they will do a "special" on it apart from all other vehicles:
I am doubtful I will keep both of them. However, I am hoping it will be good to have the option to pick one or the other. I don't think I am risking too much money, if any, by purchasing a Raptor and possibly getting a R1T in year, given the market for used cars and especially for Raptors...
Raptor's published payload is 1400 lbs, but actual deliveries show around 11-1200 lbs. The options on the vehicle vary the payload. So, always assume about 80% of the published number for a given vehicle. Rivian is providing information per regulations, not playing games in this specific case...
Suppose you have four people with avg. weight of 200 lbs each (total 800 lbs), and you carry a large hard-shell rooftop tent (150 lbs). That still leaves you with 470 lbs for carrying gear, cloths, kitchen system, spare parts maybe, etc. That should be enough, no?
You guys are awesome, thank you! You took the time to respond in detail and did help me understand, I appreciate it. In return, I'll try to provide my views into the conversation, rather than just receive input.
I wish I knew about that thread, I would not have created this one. I actually read...
Yes, 37" for sure; gotta have it :CWL:
I also have the R1T configured with the Adventure and Off-road packages. IMHO, those are also in the "gotta have it" category :)
