Not really. it's not up to me to do the math. It's up to an owner to put a properly spec'd part on their vehicle.
So it's rather the opposite. You are trying to justify adding an unrated wheel on your vehicle, and saying "prove that it can't go there."
Do you have anything in writing from...
Coupled with the door sticker, it starts on page 240 in the R1T owner's manual, along with the math. Sure it relates to tires, but I'm guessing Rivian didn't know people would put a used $50 2008 Dodge Ram wheel on their $70K trucks. I mean the gross weight of the R1T is only 2000 lbs more, what...
(I don't have my R1 yet) But HERE's an example from another forum member.
You have to look on your own truck.
So if you have 21's for example they are a 116/XL capacity tire.
Yeah, you definitely want to do your research. Just as not using winter tires in adverse/snow conditions could potentially have you liable on your insurance;
If a non-OEM wheel were to (I assume rarely) fail and it was not to specified capacity, you could be on the hook for costs related to an...
We went to the Vancouver service centre a couple of weekends ago, to show my wife the colours. Just in case there is anything coming up early (I ordered the blue) But got the green light on the Granite, Forest Green, and the blue.
The green R1S looked terrific in the sunlight. Hoping they...
Yes and no.
We use it in our truck (black) all the time in the summer.
It's pretty hot, (40 C 104 F +/-) so crack the sunroof open when we park at the beach to keep it cooler.
Crows nesting where I park at home dropped sticks on the roof of my truck. Jammed and broke the mechanism, as they...
The wheels are not the worst I've seen. I think they could have invested a little more time in the mounting system for the rack. From a distance it looks like they put a decent looking roof storage system on top of square tubing and angle iron.
On the other hand, nice to see some aftermarket...
I am thinking more about my tire and wheel combination, honestly leaning more towards an A/T tire. If I stuck with the 21's then will probably order a 2nd set of wheels with A/T or snow tires.
What about you? Would you change what your R1 was ordered/delivered with?
Well part of my truck arrived, no timing or info on the rest of the R1T until the end of November, I guess.
Did chat with Rivian, so if something comes up that I like, I may jump in earlier, otherwise probably early January 2024 before it comes.
.
What rims did you get?
I had free tires for life, as part of my Ford sales /service agreement and after that ran out I got the BF Goodrich M&S. It was my last free set of tires. I like them quite a bit. Not too much detectable road noise and are an aggressive tire. I think the Blizzaks are more...
Still going to keep my reservation. I am thinking they were planning on releasing the tradesman version first anyway.
So 2026-2027 for the better trim levels. Who knows what the offerings will be, might be time to trade up, if there is a better battery, range, or tech from GM by then.
This was similar for my Ford F-150. The factory Scorpions had a very hard rubber compound which was decent for tire wear, but poor in rain snow and slush.
Being that the R1 is heavy, Scorpions are probably the optimal tire for wear. I'm banking on getting a set of winter tires and a second set...
Yes of course it is not. That became clear when they started advertising 400+/- range. At best it was maybe 155 kWh
For a while, I was hoping that they were simply underpromising and potentially over-delivering.
I am definitely disappointed, as the whole spiel was that with the quad motor...
I saw a couple in my Rivian Shop, so expect that some will be shipping in 4-6 weeks. Problem is, mine will be arriving at the start of winter (I hope earlier.)
For me the real test will be next summer when I tow my boat though the mountain passes (with not a lot of chargers between)
I rented a...
Thanks for the feedback. I want the larger capacity charger, as the R1T Max has a much larger battery compared to the Kona. At 32 amps it takes about 5-7 hours to charge up the Kona every 2 weeks.
I have a 40 amp level 2 charger to charge our Kona EV, but am getting the Rivian charger, which will have a larger breaker 50-60amp, and wondered if anyone encountered any issues charging non-Rivian vehicles.
Thx
