This could be good news for the general availability of bidirectional charging.

Most people have a mortgage. They are going to have you either rebuild or use the insurance to pay them off. Even if you sell the vacant lot, that may not make a dent in the mortgage.
Also people have friends, family, jobs and memories that tie them to where they live.
In addition to an R1T we also own a Model Y. We have a J1772 adapter and use it a lot (mainly for charging at home), but we have not purchased a CCS adapter and have no plan to). We tend to be more adventurous with the R1, so have a wider set of adapters.
Iāve had my R1T for 2.5+ years and driven as far south as Los Angeles and as far north as Prince Rupert, BC. I only once used the NACs adapter. And that was to test it at a local Supercharger.
YMMV
P.S. I have found the more adventurous you are the less likely there is to be a SuperCharger...
They need to have measure this and learn from the SCs that do it better. I had the PTC installed (2.8 hours), multipoint inspection, charger service and a tires rotation in San Jose.
Time received: Monday 09:08 AM
Time ready: Tuesday 5:17 pm
Clearly some of the SCs are at least sometimes doing...
Iāve never had this happen. I have 12 service invoices since May of 22 for SFO and then SJC. Most were mobile. The remainder were all same day or next day.
Iāve gotten to the point where I schedule routine work 3 months out and minor repairs like window seals I do myself.
Iām hoping that as...
Some Rivian owners are adventurous. Try doing the round trip from Williams Lake to Bella Coola, BC.
The best charger you are going to find is the 100kw charger at Anahim Lake. To almost 2 hours to charge to 95%. I wish I would have gone to 100% because I was below 5% when I got back.
Iāve also...
I doubt most folks would pay $14.95/month for just this. But if you are already paying for it to get streaming audio, satellite maps, etc. Being able to watch a movie while charging is a nice bonus and no extra charge if you already subscribe to connect+
I had that happen. Contacted customer support twice l. Supposedly the manual entered for me and it didnāt work. So I emailed RJ and eventually got my adapter. YMMV
When will bidirectional charging be available for first gen R1T and in the meantime what solar/battery system should I choose for compatibility? Tesla Powerwl? FranklinWH? Something else?
Signups for the event have closed, but Iām working with Rivian the best I can to ensure thereās some form...
I got my R1T in May of 22. Early ā24 was scheduled replacement. Earliest date was during a month long driving trip. Installed in July. Left in the morning for an overnight and picked up following afternoon. Has worked fine since
Itās getting a lot better even in the past three of months. I was planning a trip to Alaska from Californiaās 3 months ago ABRP wouldnāt even plot a path from Prince George to Fairbanks. You had to find campgrounds with 220v chargers in a few places. Now you can go the whole way with 50kw+...
I think your assumption that Rivian is engaging with Volex. Itās Tesla that is engaged with them: https://electrek.co/2023/08/10/tesla-issues-license-volex-build-nacs-connector/
The whole point of this thread is that the rate is increasing. We can argue if itās increasing fast enough and what portion will go to Rivian customers. But it seems silly to argue the rate being static in response to news that is isnāt static. And itās not clear to me that Rivian has any...
