I don’t have inside information, but best practice when rolling out updates like this is to do it randomly. This allows you to statistically treat it like an experiment and determine the likelihood that those problems were caused by the update or just randomly happened at the time of the update...

Which leads me to believe that either the $4200 Rivian replacement had additional damage, Rivian did unnecessary additional work, doubling the price or my repair skipped necessary steps. They do offer parts to third parties. I got my rear window replaced at Arseen Auto in San Jose for $1543.88 including parts, labor and tax. I did have to call around a bit. Rivian gave me half a dozen repair shops to check with and only Arseen actually had the glass.

I generally try to find lodging with a charger. A J1772 or Tesla destination charger makes for a more pleasant experience and a lot of places support it.
