If you zoom into the photo mock-up they labeled them water cans, but they should have used the blue lifesaver jerrycan type model in the mock-up (for those who havenāt used it itās a jerrycan that filters the water using pressure as you pour water out, popular for Overlanding).
I hope so, I donāt think a redesign is warranted but I donāt understand why they then wonāt permit later installs of the redesigned auto-tonneau; I mean, I get it, they donāt know exactly how it will be redesigned yet, but if it will fold into the same body design, why not offer that as a later...
Interesting, unless an intern did the mockup & scraped some rack images from other places, a close-up view of the full-size image shows the logo for Overland Ruff Rax; I like the builds heās been a part of (even built a pull-out solar panel mounted under his roof rack that slides out when parked...
My list (some repeated):
Navigation:
Pop-up details for other charging stations while navigating (have to exit navigation to see additional details
Option to re-route to other chargers
Display battery-prep & give options to tweak when navigating to chargers, in-line in navigation view...
Yep, reading between the lines, hereās what I suspect will happen:
Rivian redesigns the gear tunnel & the tonneau cover storage area
Literally zero-reason for that sharp-edge on the gear tunnel, I canāt believe their counsel permitted it, itās too much of a liability
Since they have to...
All fair takes/responses: I see the point that they are largely fair in their criticisms & that Rivian needs to be able to stand on their own feed in the big-leagues. I think the thing that irks me is the freebie promotional attention I see Tesla getting for relatively-vaporware...
Thanks for asking @OutofSpecKyle! Love your channels, watch as many videos as I can. Special thanks for demystifying & explaining EV tech for those of us who are new to the tech (i.e. importance of voltage, charging curves, etc.); itās all been SUPER helpful as I plan what I hope will be a car I...

Hmmmmā¦they seem to be a bit harsh on the first-gen/first-year-new-model type issues. Not great that the passenger side window framing came loose & that the window stopped rolling all the way up, but seems like a...
SnazzyLabs channeling the same vibe as Doug Demuro:
of note, itās the first video Iāve seen of the small spare inflated & on a wheel of the R1S, made it clear to me Iād want to mount a swing-out full-size spare on the tailgate.
Just catching up to this thread as Iām personally very interested in the aftermarket solutions here.
Iām biding my time for a max pack higher-capacity battery pack for on & off-road camping, and am wavering between the R1T or an R1S (seems max pack wonāt be quite as large whenever they finalize...
Should be fixable if they make the crop-in zooming user-modifiable. Like others have said that wider angle is much more useful & as a photographer mismatched resolutions hurt my eyes to strain at when a lower-resolution image is shown on a much higher resolution display, or vice versa.
But...
So glad to see Rivian investing into the eastern side of the sierras. Iāve got a soft spot for those towns with my years of visits to Yosemite high-country via Tioga Pass with my family. Hoping Iāll soon be able to bring my parents thru again with an electric vehicle!
They should put another...
I agree with this. I think that end of October theyāll be announcing the newer (not quite Max) pack for the R1S, call it the Explore Pack? Ha!
Iām guessing itās not quite the 180mWh capacity of the R1T given the form-factor challenges.
Iām hoping the rumors of a new 800V standard & motor...
This is the way, this is the vehicle Iām waiting for: shorter wheel base, better radius, same drivetrain as R1T, enclosed interior, and 370+mi. rangeā¦
Haha I noticed that too. I couldnāt help but wonder if he wanted a less cost-effective solution that was more effective since he has an R1T himself.
I do hope they deploy a strong, reliable & more robust solution, just over-engineer it like they have so much else in the truck. Two motors...
