Is that more of a Gen 1 issue than the current Gen 2?
So far besides a couple minor superficial things that the service center took care of ours R1S has been great. Been fun to use to use it to its potential like taking 6 mountain bikes and bikers to remote trailheads.
We had that warning 100% of the time in reverse since delivery of our Gen 2 R1S. Rivian had to replace āa sensorā on the rear bumper and weāve never seen it since. Other functionality that we didnāt even know we were missing like blind spot warning and automatic lane changes also started working...
Gen2 base audio here. Got the update and the EQ is still a mess. mid-bass super high and mid treble super low. With pretty much the same EQ settings I posted elsewhere its OK but not great.
Not my lived experience. Our last ICE SUVs (VW Tuareg then Audi Q7) pretty much cost $500 a year for scheduled service which also took all day. Plus every year they have to be taken for a smog check for another $40 and couldn't have any error codes. Contrast that with my Tesla Model 3 is 6 years...
Personally I abhor the idea of hauling a high-maintenance ICE engine around but I think the RAMcharger is a great solution for certain use cases. My brother in Canda for example, 49 days of 50 he could drive electric but a few times a year we like to tow his boat to a nice lake to fish and play...
Had our R1S for a couple months now and generally are impressed and loving it.
We are about to have our first service though and there's a couple things that we don't know if they are normal or a defect to be fixed:
1) when the R1S has been out in the sun on a warm day, the doors miss their...
Couple things. The Rivian trip planning defaults to your trip starting battery % being the vehicle's current charge but when you do the trip it will likely be higher.
I recently ran Cupertino to Donner Lake in our R1S Dual Max on a hot day with 2 bikes on the hitch rack without stopping and...
Heating up and ablating the brake pads and rotors of the good old friction brakes. They are used when you need more deceleration than then regenerative braking can deliver.
Just completed 2000+ mile road trip from San Jose around Arizona and back in our 3 week old Gen 2 R1S with no issues. Was impressed with how mature and stable it felt. EA chargers maybe not so much. Rebooted the screens only one time to get the navigation voice directions back.
Have a 2 week old Gen 2 R1S and besides terrible default Audi EQ itās been great. When I go enable Lane Change on Command in Settings, the button slides right and turns green for a second then turns back gray. Once in every 10 attempts it appears to stick but when you exit settings and come...
These are not normal Gen 2 software bugs, there is something more fundamentally wrong with your car. The Gen 2 architecture is more dependent on data networking and I suspect something is corrupting data on your network, eg a bad device, a loose connector, a damaged wire. I donāt want to jinx it...
Yeah we picked up 9/24 and never got an email either and are still waiting for the adapter. We were told by one guy we would get an email while another said they stopped doing that. I emailed Rivian customer service and they just said "Since you just received the vehicle recently and our service...
we were really disappointed too but these extreme eq settings helped a lot.

Try the weird and extreme EQ settings above then Apple Music ( as schellack notes) or high res music over BT cause we found those sources sounded good (if not great).
iām not impressed an amateur like me can make that big a difference in 10 minutes effort, so suggest that we all file service...
Thanks, his posts motivated me to try to a similar analysis though with the more amateur tools at hand (eg iPhone)! It helped a lot but as far as I can tell the car's EQ range is too small. I'm pretty sure Rivian could make this much better with a software update - though maybe they are...
