You never want to look back at past trading choices, but my co-worker bought 1000 shares of TSLA when the price was $25. He sold at $50/share happy he doubled his money....
Now, that would be worth close to $6m. Cest la vie.
One thing has puzzled me more and more over the last couple years, more so with the Rivian-VW JV Why is no one partnering with Lucid on any of their tech? There was a murmur of a deal between them and Hyundai Motor Group to supply them with Lucid drive units in their Genesis brand vehicles, but...
I've honestly learned so much from @OutofSpecKyle and team in the lead up to my R1T delivery. I'm not a laymen by any means, but understanding the nuances of the vehicle and it's limitations, makes for a better overall owner/user experience.
The battery is arguably the most expensive component in an EV. Manufacturers have to make trade offs between energy density, and charging performance in order to achieve certain price targets.
With incentives all but eliminated, now automakers have to decide, is a customer willing to pay that...
100%. While I prefer better charging, 10 extra minutes at a charger isn't going to ruin my day, nor my trip.
Every road trip my wife, daughter and I have done with our R1T, the charge stop has been more than adequate, and often the vehicle is ready to go before we are. Not always, but 9/10 times.
This is the good one. Especially his brief sit down with RJ on battery strategy. Rivian went for energy density and range over high kWh C rates. Per RJ, across the R1 fleet, the vast majority only DCFC about 10 times a year, so it didn't make sense to add extra cost to the battery pack for edge use.
More and more I feel like LiDAR inclusion is more for Rivian's benefit in training models, rather than something a user will notice from a driving or future proofing standpoint between R2 Gen 2 Autonomy platform without, and R2 Gen 3 Autonomy platform with.
I'm interested in the Launch edition for sure, questions around it though, are will it still be available when they launch in Canada in 2027, will it have the new autonomy processor and LiDAR, and what kind of cross border premium will be tacked on.
80k cdn or less, and it will be compelling...
On R1 ambient lighting, I wanted something like the Scout headliner lighting, and a FB group member did a similar install, so I followed his lead and did the same, but was able to run power from the front, rather than the 120v outlet in the rear. In the photos it's more burnt orange, but I...
It's there, you see it in the Carwow video of the R2 from about a month ago. He was in the studio laying in the back and it had purple ambient lighting on doors and dash similar to R1
I've always thought this was the real way self driving could improve things congestion wise. Vehicles could collaboratively share data, decreasing follow distance at intersections from a red light stop, in a city for instance, light goes green, vehicles react moving forward simultaneously as a...
