Our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Summit pkg) is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Seriously. It's got plenty of luxury comfort, rides beautifully (minimal head toss- unlike R1S), plenty of room, the right mix of touch screen and knobs/buttons, GREAT AC, the engine is reliable and has good...
One major challenge about being/staying adventurous is the insufficient charging network. It's difficult to be adventurous if you drive 200+ miles (2.5-3 hours) to your adventure, then can't really embark on your adventure because you only have 30-50 miles left before the truck becomes a brick.
Yup. Despite all the testing Rivian did, the R1S can't handle the extreme heat. It's definitely trying to keep the battery cool. I did an experiment for a couple days when it was 110+ in Phx and did not turn on the AC (cabin temps 130+) for 20 mins on the way home from work. The efficiency...
I think you’re forgetting that no one is forcing Tesla to open up their supercharger network. They don’t HAVE to make longer cables to accommodate other vehicle manufacturers. From the Tesla point of view, one might say other vehicle manufacturers should re-work their cabling and bodywork to...
This is one of those times when you figure out that cooling is removal of heat. Therefore keeping the frunk closed does simply makes the surrounding air hotter as the cooling coils attempt to exchange heat.
Some kind of vent would be crucial to proper functioning of 12V fridge.
Yeah, charging is tough when towing no matter what. It your charge port is in front, you'll block the pull-in lanes. It in back you need to unhook or pull parallel to access chargers. No good solutions.
Does anyone know if Rivian has plans to relocate the charge port on the R1? Seems like left rear quarter panel would be smart given the parking configuration of supercharging stalls. Maybe on the R2?
As has been covered in other threads when superchargers open up to other vehicles, R1...
If is 77°F outside and only 100°F inside your cabin, the AC will very likely cool it off.
Many of us have 100°F to 110°F+ outside with 130°F+ inside the cabin. THat's where the problem is.
Not fun to complain at all! I really want to like the R1S and have other things to worry about.
Plus, I would worry that allowing a non-Rivian shop to work on my R1S might void the warranty. I think EVs AC systems are a little different than ICE AC systems...
Actually, yes reduced ambient temps. When the interior and exterior are <100°F, my AC is adequate (not great, but adequate). Any higher and it can't do the job. After all the testing Rivian did in "extreme" environments, how could this happen?
Phx service center just called me and delayed my scheduled service appt on Friday–that I had already been waiting 6 weeks for– out to mid-September. Uggh.
I have several small things, but the major issue is AC in Phoenix!
Clearly the service center wait times are a major issue and could give...
No charging worked fine last week in 100F garage, but the AC doesnt Cool properly, so I’m not even driving my new R1S! And if I’m not driving it, there’s no reason to charge it.
How can a simple cloth sunshade help more than the super-expensive IR rejecting tinting? Sunshades are WAY less expensive- that's for sure.
Does the Hansshow sunshade cover both sunroofs in the R1S or just the large one?
As previously mentioned, I am considering having a wrap installed on the...
