  1. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

Then why haven't they applied for it in Oregon yet? (They only have about two weeks.) Maybe because their installs don't meet the requirements? (Currently true.) Could they make the necessary hardware/software changes in time to qualify? (Probably not for the first year of funding, maybe next...
  2. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

I wonder what all is in the NACS partner agreements. Here are some things that I think are in it, or should be, based on what we have seen: Tesla to provide OEM adapters/charging hardware at cost. OEM to test all of their existing EV models on Tesla Superchargers to verify compatibility prior...
  3. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

No, they won't make people pay for it, they have already said it will be free. The way RAN installs are right now they won't qualify for NEVI funding, so not an issue. (For many reasons; for example: they aren't open to non-Rivians, their minimum output power is 50kW too low, etc.) And then on...
  4. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Tesla has had an open network of CCS chargers for years in Europe, working with vehicles from all different manufacturers. There are some vehicles that aren't there; Rivians, F-150 Lightnings, Hummers, Lucid Airs, etc. but they have been seen using the MagicDocks already. The only issues I've...
  5. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

Really, you use words that you don't know what they mean? I guess I can help by providing a link to a dictionary/definition: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/consider It sure seems like they had to have considered it, according to the first definition, to make the...
  6. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

Of course what I posted says something; it points out that you make stuff up, and then try to cover it up when called out on it. (Or maybe you just really suck at expressing what you really mean in written words?) This is what you said: But the fact is that they have already considered adding...
  7. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

It appears just about everyone, automakers included, want to get their fingers in the details of the process of making NACS an official standard: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/charin-e.v._charin-ccs-mcs-activity-7077308863091257344-NJad Of course, one important, and one not so important...
  8. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

Tesla has been running an open network for years in Europe. So they have plenty of experience supporting non-Teslas. But that probably doesn't matter for Ford, GM, and Rivian where Tesla will be working with them directly on the implementation for billing, etc.
  9. Top 5 Reasons Switching to a Tesla Dominated NACS Standard is a Colossal Mistake for the Consumer

Not exactly true. RJ has already considered adding NACS and decided that they will add NACS connectors to the RAN: https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ev-maker-rivian-adopt-teslas-charging-standard-2023-06-20/ He just didn't say when they would start adding the NACS...
  10. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Not hidden, in plain site, at least for anyone that bothered to read it. Yes, for 1000v they decided to make the connector longer. But I don't know that that was necessary for 900A. (Their 900A comment doesn't specify if it was at 500v or 1000v.)
  11. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Yep, that is where chargers like the FreeWire work OK. With a 100A service they could support ~7 charges per day, but only if they were spread out evenly over the entire 24 hours. I think they have ~160kWh of batteries, so can support two charges at full speed, then it would take about 7 hours...
  12. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

It depends on usage. Taken to the extreme, let's say there is only a single charge in a month, peaking at ~220kW for a total of 80kWh. That could cost them ~$6,600 for the demand charges and ~$4 for the energy charges. Obviously, they can't charge a single person $6,604 for a charge. (Demand...
  13. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

It seems we missed some details from the Reuters article yesterday: https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ev-maker-rivian-adopt-teslas-charging-standard-2023-06-20/ It seems that he thinks opening the RAN to Tesla owners will get them to cash flow positive quickly. I find that...
  14. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Maybe you should review the documents that they have provided: https://www.tesla.com/support/charging-product-guides#NACS-resources
  15. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

That is why I was suggesting that Rivian work with Tesla and co-fund remote locations. Rivian can kick in some money but let Tesla do the install/maintenance/etc. Those locations will be a benefit to Tesla Cybertruck owners as well as Rivian R1/R2 owners, and since Rivian is going to open the...
  16. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

That quote is wrong. There is no requirement to have the vehicle repaired by Tesla. However, it does have to be inspected by Tesla after the repair. (And if there are things that aren't up to specs. they will give you a quote to repair it to make it pass.)
  17. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Who said anything about relying just on the Supercharger network? There will be plenty of other chargers built out by other companies being funded by NEVI. (And NEVI funding can't be used for the remote locations.) I would say that Rivian should focus on remote locations at least for now, as...
  18. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Elon said that Tesla would be selling the NACS stuff to their partner OEMs at cost. While Tesla sells the CCS to NACS adapter for $175, it probably costs significantly less than that. My guess is that it will cost Rivian ~$100 to ship an adapter to each of their customers.
  19. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard! (Adapters in 2024, Standard Charging Port in 2025)

Are you sure someone actually reset it? If someone reset it, shouldn't your Rivian have just started charging again? Or does it require an unplug/replug event for it to consider starting again after an external "failure"? Or maybe it was just being because of this:
