Just got mine (early 2023 R1T) last week and tested it at the local TeslaSC - total plug-and-play.

My solution, which has been working so far, is a combination of permanent and flashing lights on a furniture dolly that i scoot under the truck in the garage (barn).

The Figueroa Mountain loop from Los Olivos to Happy Canyon (or the opposite direction) is a great drive and probably washed out enough to be challenging.

Installed this a couple of weeks ago and everything is great except for a few minor issues most of them resolved: 1 - I really had to contort my 74 YO body to get a clear view of the fuse box, but once there it was easy to install. 2 - I may go back and do the "across-dash" wire routing to avoid...
