I will add a quick update: we’ve now taken the R1S on highway twice- WA to OR; drove small roads with lots of turns and bumps… the car is handling all amazingly. We used the dog mode and it worked great. And it’s so spacious… very happy!

We parked our blue R1S next to a R1T at Cape Lookout in OR. Nice company! Could even use the Rivian Level 2 charger.

I agree- the MX is wonderful on highways. We’ve taken the R1S and R1T on Highways and find them great as well.

I can add: while the falcon doors can be convenient- when you’re parked and the only side you can enter is the street side, and your kid needs to enter quickly, this is really not convenient. The whole door opens on the street side, slowly, and then back down. In our garage we had the same issue...

It is quite a real car. :) Both are great cars with their pros and cons. I went with the R1S over the MX. Overall, I prefer the R1S. It is a great car! If I had the two cars parked in front of my house and would have to decide which one to drive, I would go with the R1S. Great interior too.

So far we don’t find the R1S noisy, and no more than the R1T. (I had seen a video complaining about that but I don’t find the car particularly noisy). The Model X was very quiet, but sometimes, at least in mine, the ventilation would start out of the blue and be a bit noisy. I hope this helps.

I am picking up an R1S in about 14 days. Blue with black interior :) For trade-in, Rivian offer wasn’t acceptable- extremely low so I’ll sell my car separately. Regarding rates: Rivian 6.48; Alliant credit union: 6 (based on their website). Still looking.
