Won't hurt it. There are gas struts lockouts out there already. Lemme see if I can find a link.
Edit: few good options here: https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/support-braces-for-gas-struts/3855
Ok, here's the Rivian camper panel height with suspension at standard. Will get Topper for you in a couple days but it should be about three inches lower.
I'm sure you could fabricate a shim or similar, but it's totally unnecessary. I've run a 270 on my campers since like early 2018 and the minor contact between an open panel and the awning frame is as much of a non issue as it gets.
Ok, topper measures 36 inches vertical from top of truck bed rib to ceiling. Camper is 39 inches. Our R1T is parked at LAX right now, but we'll measure clearance under open panels with customer installs this week.
Topper has slightly less vertical height inside, so the top sits flush with the rear of the cab. Call it two inches. Range impact is negligible, well below variables in conditions and driver behavior.
And here's a photo dump of a prototype topper we just installed on Jonny Lieberman's truck. As with Ben Moon and the camper, Jonny's helping us refine a bunch of details. So don't look too terribly closely at these photos.
We'll have a timeline on topper very soon.
Oh, and here's some footage...
Yeah, we ran into a freak supply chain issue with the headliner material and had to kinda create a whole new supply and manufacturing process around it. That's in the final stages of being resolved, we've been slowly catching up in the meantime, and will be able to massively accelerate getting...
Stoked to see customers enjoying their campers!
We shot a few photos of the camper on our R1T yesterday, and wanted to share those here.
Also, to answer a couple of questions: We'll have some more to share about the topper tomorrow. And with the 3rd brake light, there is also some good news...
Thanks for bearing with us. The final step in this process was adding production capacity to handle the demand for R1T products. Just wanted to make sure we were giving you guys 100 percent certain dates.
The sales team started calling deposit holders this morning to finalize payments and lock...
Our goal with all comms is to be as transparent as possible at all time. That's never going to be quite as polished as a press release out out by a major automaker, but hopefully the upside is insight into our processes and responsive interaction. I'm writing this on my phone from a parking...
The problem we're trying to solve for you right now is delivering a versatile bed cap/camper hybrid that can form a canvas for your own customization or bed build outs, should you want them. There's plenty of aftermarket brands that make all sorts of storage and furniture options. Some good...
Forgot to answer this: The camper and topper both double secure storage volume in the R1T's bed. I don't have the truck here to measure (it's at Goose Gear in CO), but the top sits at roughly cab height. And, since you can still use your tonneau cover, you get two levels of storage and extra...
