VW ID.Buzz 3-row reveal, plus camper

The ID.Buzz isn't a direct competitor to the R1S, but it's pretty damn cool. Clearly doesn't have any real off-road capability but I love the look, and the utility will be quite impressive (like most minivans). I really hope VW or some aftermarket companies really develop camper options...

Rich Rebuilds: What my $37K Rivian Accident Repair Reveals about the Tesla Cybertrucks Design Flaw

Is repairing minor rear end damage not possible without significant disassembly of the truck? I watched the other repair video that had similar damage and it seems like a repair taken to an extreme. I've got to imagine there is a solution. Whether it's fading the resprayed area into the rest of...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

I’m assuming most (if not all) automakers have a seat on the board for the CCS standard. So odds are they wouldn’t collectively do something to completely change the standard in a detrimental way. No single automaker can make a change to give themselves an advantage or punish another automaker...

iKamper Annex room tent - tested and recommended

The other vehicles are our friends. We were camping on their property. No one else around. When camping on public lands or at public camp sites it varies a lot in terms of space between sites. In Colorado we are lucky enough to have plenty of remote areas where you can really space out.

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

I'll be interested if Ford maintains the V2H capability of the F150 if it switches to the NACS plug. Tesla seems to have no interest in V2H or V2G because it competes with their battery storage business. So it might be tricky to implement.

iKamper Annex room tent - tested and recommended

It's actually a storage system for kitchen gear. You could easily use it for clothes however. We use it to storage all of our dishes, utensils, towels, and cooking accessories. The legs collapse so it easily fits under the tonneau cover. Here is a link to the product...

iKamper Annex room tent - tested and recommended

Last weekend my wife and I broke in our iKamper X-Cover on a solo camping trip. This weekend we took our three kids and two dogs and were able to use the iKamper Annex. For those of you not familiar with the Annex, it's essentially a large covered extension/shelter to the roof top tent. It's a...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

This right here. Is the CCS plug worse than the NACS plug? Sure, it's bigger, but if you use an updated EA or Chargepoint charger with the longer more flexible cables, it's not an issue. Is CCS reliable? Yes, just as reliable as NACS. However, CCS charge networks tend to be not as reliable...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

I've said this many times, but Colorado has much better CCS coverage than NACS coverage. Getting to remote areas of Colorado requires using CCS chargers. The state kicked off a state wide campaign several years ago to cover all rural areas. As a result we are in better shape than probably any...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

Agreed. Two years is a long time in the EV world. The charging landscape could really change by 2025 now that a lot of money is being thrown at the problem. Why put all of your eggs in one basket with Tesla especially when they still unilaterally control the NACS standard and access for the moment.

    Leaked photos of CyberTruck Interior

The entire argument for the yolk was better visibility of the gauges and the road. The CT doesn't have a gauge cluster, and the new steering wheel isn't a yoke, but just rectangle. So it barely offers better visibility of the road. Another design change just to be different, with no real benefit.

    Leaked photos of CyberTruck Interior

Same here. No fan of Elon, but I would generally recommend Model 3/Y or Model S (probably not the X) to someone looking to buy an EV. But I do not understand the appeal of the Cybertruck. I just don't get it. Why would anyone want the Cybertruck over an R1T or F150 Lightning? Especially now that...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

If Ford is paying for access, what happens if they get into a disagreement with Tesla and Tesla cuts them off? It’s like a cable company cutting off access to a station if the don’t like the terms of their contract renewal. Unless Ford get free access (outside of customers paying for...

Ford/Tesla Deal: Access to Superchargers, adapter coming, future EVs will have NACS (Tesla) port

If Tesla is charging Ford for access, that may not qualify for the Federal grants. It seems it needs to be a truly open standard. Not a pay for access scenario controlled by one company. If Tesla truly opens access to anyone with an adapter, that could be big news. Otherwise it still feels like...

First Camping Trip in the R1T and our iKamper RTT (and first time using RAN)

It's tricky to load/unload with one person, but with two people it's not bad. I typically stand on the tailgate while my wife hands me a bike. Then she steps onto the gear tunnel door to secure the front while I'm securing the rear wheel.

Blackstone has two electric griddles, the 17" and 22". We are using the 17" which is rated at 1500W max. So we never had a problem with tripping the outlet.

First Camping Trip in the R1T and our iKamper RTT (and first time using RAN)

We rode one day in Rabbit Valley down to the Western Rim trail, and one day outside of Fruita on Mary's and Horsethief trails. There are flowy sections, but a lot of sand and technical sections as well. Rabbit valley also has a lot of dirt roads that could easily be ridden. The trails outside of...

First Camping Trip in the R1T and our iKamper RTT (and first time using RAN)

You definitely need two people to mount the tent. It weights 120lbs but its size is what makes it difficult. We are going to buy another set of Rivian cross bars and simply leave the RTT attached and remove it as an assembly. One person might be able to do it if you purchased a hoist and stored...

No noise on the highway. You wouldn't even know the RTT or bikes were there.
