I think Rivian bought them from Tesla and Rivian decided to eat the costs and not pass it on to current CCS owners. If Tesla was just handing out free adapters then all other companies that are switching to NACS would offer them to their customers for free but that's not the case.

Yeah not sure if the 3rd row forward would keep the truck on. I have an R1T so can't comment on that. Something must have caused the truck to remain on. I have used shipping mode at the airport before but didn't notice much difference than just walking away so I don't even bother anymore.

Yeah doesn't sound like your Rivian went to sleep at all. I leave mine at the airport and lose the standard 1% a day or so. Gear guard is on but I try to park with low traffic so it doesn't go off much.

I think it's great. My 2015 Highlander is still on the 2015 version of its software. We are lucky to get updates this often.

Highly doubtful Rivian will be adding any buttons. They are trying to cut costs not add complexity and costs to their builds.

I'd say it used to be worse when EVs started getting popular especially Teslas. Lots of ICEing and charger destroying but I haven't seen anything like that in 3 years.
