I read this thread thinking I'd be prepared, put the car in sleep mode, and go about an install. How the heck does one "put the car in sleep mode?" I see no menu option for it. Just mentions of "walk away for 30 minutes" when I google it. No lights are going off anyway while I have the door...
@gerrylum - thanks, this is all very helpful. So I buy a Comma 3x, then the hardware needed for speed/longitudinal control w/o compromise to steering wheel, plus BSM is either:

Thanks @MrMusAddict for the excellent breakdown-
I read every page leading up to this and still must've managed to miss what "1PD" means.
I think that gets to the heart of what I was wondering, which was whether or not the Longitudinal Upgrade kit was just a temporary functional boost that the...
Prospective Comma customer w/ a 2022 R1T here, I'm an early adopter and don't mind the tweaking to come yet, but I don't want to buy until I know speed control (longitudinal?) isn't going to be an issue w/ compromises like no steering wheel button function or something, whatever that meant...
Just looked at this and the reason is clear. When jacking it up from a low ride height, the wheels fall away every bit as far as if it were starting from a high ride height. So all starting at a low height does is make you jack a lot further and not have the opportunity to shim with any...
Anyone else frustrated by the fact that when parking, if you wish to leverage the parking proximity sensors, you must take your eyes away from the 360 view screen, where they should be overlaid anyway? I hate looking at the proximity sensors on separate screen, usually partially obscured by the...
Rest assured, I do not need help on backing up techniques. Yes- can do it with mirrors, 360 cam, etc. circumstantially, but there are scenarios where those mechanism suck. I ought to be able to elevate myself w/ my left foot while looking straight out the back window if I want to as well...
Appreciate the thought, but that won't really work, as I need to put weight down to lift myself up for better rear view. Rivian having concern over putting full weight on accelerator doesn't really make sense anyway. (they could easily electronically limit it if it was) Braking while using the...
I haven't submitted an issue to Rivian about this yet, but wanted to gauge the community. Now this issue doesn't always happen- but sometimes if I'm backing up and want to get a good look out the rear window, I'll push myself a bit higher up using my leg on the floor. This creates an EXTREMELY...
I'm talking about the gear tunnel and tailgate buttons- one would think that pressing these would mean they would either fully open or I'd be able to press this button, get out, and open the respective door. They don't, and I can't. Maybe if I'm parked at a strong incline, the tailgate *might*...
That's kind of level I was expecting, but at the same time, I don't feel that bad for having expected something to be further along by now, considering the way it was bandied about 4 years ago...

Good question- but then, that's a consideration they should have made before hyping the feature and compatibility plan. I purchased with an eye on this coming in the future.
Wow... Hadn't seen that yet. Definitely still a win for me, but I didn't know about the battery. Nice to see confirmation on the inverter component requirement though.
I've priced them, and you're not wrong about the extra cost for generator hookups. However, there is significantly less infrastructure to put in place for connecting a bidirectional charger and ATS that would reduce the relative cost. No propane lines (assuming propane fueled), outdoor concrete...
Thank you for mentioning that- yes, there is already a bill drafted: 2027.

And that's for V2G- a larger challenge than V2H or V2V in terms of regulation.
(*love* that this...
Yes- it absolutely is a big enough use case, even if not to you individually. Look at Ford sprinting ahead in this area.
Ford Power-on-board also made huge sales headlines for them during the Texas winter power outage a couple years back. As a stockholder and an R1T owner, I'm interested in...
I'm truly hoping that those are separately allocated teams in the software space. If software or other feature efforts within Rivian were that serialized, we've got much worse problems. I'm optimistic that that is not the case though, and the plan just hasn't been shared effectively.
