Well its better than not doing anything. It takes longer to get the battery warm. Just on driving. But if you charge before driving. You got your battery at a warmer state. I don’t know what cold temps you’re dealing with but your battery is not going to drop that quick in 3 hrs.
Winter time...
Schedule a charge to end right before you leave. That works for me on a level 2 home charger. Battery temp is around 60 degrees F outside is in the 20s F
