Rivian never said this. It’s math. If they can make $5,500 per R2 at 500,000 annual units that’s $2.75 Billion in income for that product , which would likely cover the company’s interest, massive SG&A, R&D, and the losses on the R1 line.

Because is order to make money (be profitable) they need to scale the R2 to 500k+ units per year, which Normal cannot accommodate.

R1S Gen 1, same issue. Pinch to zoom nearly unusable. Also, laggy UI generally. Also, Amazon music now skips 10 seconds ahead instead of next song with steering wheel controls - very annoying.

I had 2 ID4s before moving to a R1S and MXP. The ID4s are excellent basic, solid, reliable cars. They don’t do anything great but do most things well. The ID4 has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. If the size works for you the price is a steal.

In the rain today, after sitting in the driver's seat in park with the doors manually locked, I opened the frunk with the GUI. Then, the frunk would not close with the button under the grille. I had to go inside the car and close the frunk from the GUI. Bug. Gen 1 R1S.
