Hi everyone, I have a set of the Rivian-branded Maxtrax Xtreme recovery boards along with a set of the Rivian-branded mounts. New in the gear shop, the boards are $425 and the mounts are $145, or $570 total. They were a total impulse buy when I ordered my first R1S 3 years ago. In reality...
Hello there! I'm the original owner of a 2025 R1S with 22" Sport Dark Wheels. About 5,700 miles into ownership, one of the sidewalls in an OEM Pirelli got a puncture that couldn't be fixed, so we replaced those with a set of the 119 Michelin Defender LTX MS/2s. At about 13,000 total miles...
We went from a Gen 1 R1S to a Gen 2 R1S about a year ago. I live in the SF Bay Area, where my wife and I have two teenaged boys who are just entering their driving years. There have been (at least) two well-publicized incidents in the last 18 months or so in SF Bay Area in which groups of...
I had that infamous clunk big time in my 2023 Gen 1 R1S. We also had the related issue of a hub bolt backing out and contacting the axle shaft. If you ever experienced that, you know what it sounded like: a scraping noise so fierce that you thought your car was going to collapse. Couple those...
@Atomic Wheels Looking forward to getting my new satin black 20” AW10s installed tomorrow at America’s Tire! I have two questions.
First, I’ve read in a couple of different Atomic Wheels threads here about removing the center caps in advance of an installation so that the tire shop doesn’t...
@B Digs Hi Brian, I am currently looking to buy these tires but am having problems. I have a 2025 R1S with 22 inch wheels, which I don't like. We have a set of 20-inch Atomic AW10s on order. Throughout this thread, you've provided links to the exact tire on the Goodyear website. When I go to...
We bought a Gen 1 R1S in September 2023, and it had all sorts of suspension and half-shaft issues, requiring two separate tow-ins to the So. S.F. service center. After that, as the noises in the suspension still kept on getting worse, we lost all confidence in the car. So, in November 2024, we...
Relative to Gen 2, I'm glad to see the "improved the charging efficiency of Dual-Motor Large and Max pack batteries." I went from a Gen 1 Quad to a Gen 2 DM Max last November, and charging at DC fast chargers has been noticeably slower. That issue is my only gripe coming from Gen 1 to Gen 2...
@razem, I completely agree that this is a big safety issue, especially given that the issue doesn't seem to be isolated just to your Rivian. Please make sure to post back when you find out what the specific issue was and Rivian's response.
@SANZC02 , thanks for posting the link to those...
@skram , Out of curiosity, did the airbags deploy? How was it getting out of the Rivian after after the accident? Were you able to open the doors yourself? Very thankful that you and your family are okay!
I live on a small street - 15 total houses on it. Here is the rough EV count: Rivian: 1 (mine); Tesla CT: 1; Tesla X: 1; Tesla MY: 4; Tesla M3: 2; other EVs: 2 or 3. And there are two other Rivians often on the street, as one belongs to the son of a neighbor and the other to a mother of a...
Great point! I find that I make every excuse in a crowded parking lot to put a small bag or two in the frunk. It definitely gets noticed, and you can just see the interested reactions from folks.
And speaking of California RANs, for those who prefer Hwy 101 over I-5 when doing the NorCal to/from SoCal run, Hwy 101 could use a RAN. Somewhere between King City and Paso Robles would e perfect.
I couldn't agree with you more! I've used both that Tesla SC and the EA and always thought that Placerville would be the ideal place for a RAN. Glad to see that it happened. I'll be using it over MLK weekend.
Only anecdotally. I upgraded to 2024.47 on Wednesday, and one of the first things I wanted to do was to test out the improved charging speed for my Gen 2 Max R1S (even before Kyle's test, I had noticed that my Gen 2 was charging noticeably slower at DC fast chargers than was Gen 1). The...
I'm in the SF Bay Area and still wave at any Rivian I see, mainly just to bug my wife and sons, as they hate when I do it (why, I say with a smile..I'm just being friendly!). I'd say I'm only getting waves back maybe a quarter of the time.
