I have 31k miles… I think I will get an R2 for my wife and hold out for a Gen 3 R1S (whenever thats available). I view the Gen2 improvements as incremental and I'd really love to see if Rivian can get to faster charging… thats my only complaint. Not sure if that means 800v architecture or...
I had the opposite experience... I went 11k miles before my first rotation. Then I changed out my wheels for the winter. The following spring (at the Rivian service center) I asked them to mount the greater tread on the front because I wanted to even out the wear. Rivian tech said they put...
Yes. I see similar and typically go 10-70 on road trips. I’d love to see that 10-70 time get down to 15 or 20 mins. Probably need 800v architecture and better battery cooling (add a cooling plate in the middle of the pack?) to make a significant improvement.
It’s a pretty fair review. My biggest want is faster charging speeds. Gotta get that 10-70/80% time down. The peak charging speeds is fine, but it would be nice to hold if for longer.
You are not alone. I am connect+ and do not have it yet either. Sometimes I get them "early", sometimes it is late. Once, I needed a 12v replacement. There was no notice of that in the vehicle or on the app. I only found out after two weeks of no update (it was the Halloween update)...
I had a similar experience. I think my problem was more the light bar than the headlights. I thought that snow on the headlights themselved made the situation worse. If so, it would be good if snowmode could deactivate the light bar (or just allow us to turn off the light bar directly.
I wish I knew what that Battery capacity on ABRP live data is. Is it “total” capacity?, “Useable” capacity?, or is it net of a buffer? I’ve asked ABRP via support, but no reply.
FWIW, my April 2023 R1S Large pack has 30k miles cueently says 128.5 kWh. However, I have seen it read higher...
I schedule my charging session to end when I plan to depart on my trips. (This is very helpful when charging to 100% before a long trip). While a pain to do the math, it is straightforward and the happy byproduct is that the battery is warm as well as the cabin with climate scheduling. The...
I agree... EPA is an "official" number, but generally not representative of "real world". Rivian had to pick something for its base and 2.0 is about as good as any. My lifetime avg. is about 2.2 in all sorts of conditions, speeds, mix of highway/city stop & go.
I am looking forward to the...
I've found traffic is the biggest wildcard to road trip results. However, regarding driving at high speeds (e.g. 80 or 85) actually making trips longer... that has not been my experience. I have found that arriving at DC fast chargers with 5-10% SOC and unplugging at 70% (assuming you can...
There is a learning curve, but it's doable. The trick is in the settings (esp. Reference Consumption and Reference Speed/Max Speed). I have been able to dial it in pretty well, but the Reference Consumption at 65mph bears no relation to my actual efficiency.
On a typical trip (something...
The way Kyle drives is "as fast as safely possible" and he generally ends up arriving sooner even though more charging enroute. If you unplug at 70% and drive faster to the next charger (ideally pulling in as close as you dare to 0%.... I usually arrive with 5-10% SOC), you save time vs...
Jeff - did you change your wheels with the Michelin Platinums? I, too, am on factory 21s (and 2.2 lifetime efficiency). I am not there yet, but wondering about replacements for on the 21 inch wheel. I am leaning toward the michelin defender that fits the 21s. I am curious what efficiency...
I agree, the Tesla membership can save $$$. Also, you can turn it off if there will be a stretch of months where you won’t need it.
It does take an extra step, however. To get the discounted rates, you need to initiate the charge from the Tesla app. Plug & charge is great (and so easy) but...
