  1. Tesla engineer urges Rivian to move charge port location on R2, R3, R3X for Supercharger access

Not in the dead centre of the car no, but it is between the front and rear wheels. IE the middle of the car. The terminals can be wherever, since the battery HV needs to feed in to the motor controller first (you know, so we have pedal throttle control and not WOT 100%), which then goes to the...
  2. $1700 Service Center ONLY Windshield Replacement is UNSUSTAINABLE !

I thought I had it bad with my R32 GTR. The windscreen is not just mould specific, it is batch specific, since GTR windscreens from 1989 onwards had the antennae for the radio moulded inside the window layer - look closely on any R32 GTR and you'll see a thin metal strip in the middle of the...
  3. R2 Wish List?

Can it fit I wonder? Forgive my paint skills but I'm on my second bourbon. Specs that the rim is 275/50/r21 which makes it a 32" diameter wheel with 275mm width :p I figure its a good idea to give space for those who want the space, so add another inch on the 275mm to make it 300mm/12"/1 foot...
  4. R2 Wish List?

Would definately love an analog compass plus one of those bubble roll axis balls. Probably though, something like that could be made as an aftermarket accessory that attaches.... somewhere... ? Odo and trip meter should be easily visible on the drivers screen, I agree
  5. Tesla engineer urges Rivian to move charge port location on R2, R3, R3X for Supercharger access

The charge goes in to the battery, which is in the middle. The battery then powers the motors. regardless of whether theyre in front or rear, after first going through the drive controller/human interface.
  6. R2 Wish List?

Btw I found a vid to demonstrate what I think Rivian should do with the spare tyre - make it a drawer instead of underneath the trunk floor (since you'd have to empty the trunk to get to it) and its not bolted to the underside (which is a pain to get tyres on and off plus ruins aerodynamics)...
  7. **NEW** MPP "Triple-L" Ride Height Adjustment Kit For R1T/R1S - Lower/Lift/Level

Sweet product. I hope when the R2 comes out you have something similar to replace the non-air suspension with some kind of adjustable option as above
  8. R2 Wish List?

Hi folks I agree with the above for sure ; - improved cameras compared to r1s - 220 in the back (specifically 10 amps safe delivery) - Selectable Regenerative Braking levels like Tesla - Range extending driving mode (use only a single motor) - More capabilities in the mobile app - Off Button so...
  9. Tesla refusing to buy back Cybertruck or allowing buyer to sell elsewhere

Its amazing the amount of tesla fans who bought the CT are now on youtube pointing out how BAD it is, and how the specs are nothing like what was originally promised. I laughed very hard when I saw the video of the idiot shooting holes in his CT and then saying 'Elon Bro you've got to get me...
  10. R2 in Teal, Evergreen, Slate 🎨

Me too. The slate with a decent tint on all of the windows (except windscreen) would look great.
  11. Does the R2 have a spare tire?

Full sized spare would probably be mandatory here in Australia. Space savers are OK but if the car is capable of off road (which an AWD with 10" clearance would easily) then you'll want a full size spare. If I'm to compare it with the most popular offroad car here, the Landcruiser, the cruiser...
  12. R2 / R3 charge port -- NACS, Passenger Rear Side location

Not quite true. I have a Nissan Skyline and a Subaru forester, both RHD... fuel filler is on the drivers/right hand side of the car in both instances. They might be different for the US market though
  13. Rivian R2 design renderings

I very much like the first model but as a forester owner, I really hate the angled rear window. With small wheel base and 4 doors, the boot/trunk space isn't great unless you stack things, and you need all the space you can when going camping I wish SUV manufacturers would make the rear windows...
  14. Automakers are starting to admit that drivers hate touchscreens. Buttons are back!

You can have programmable buttons easy enough. Just build the facility in to the touchscreen and have the physical buttons as a configurable control interface. You want to use button A to answer a call? Program it to do so. You want it to mute the audio? Do that then. That said, who on earth...
  15. Update: Your Max Pack Preorder - R1T’s Max Pack only available w/ Dual-Motor. Unavailable w/ Quad-Motor starting 2023

This is pretty much what I want to do too. I've got no problem with going to dual motor to get extra range, but as others have mentioned they absolutely must have a locking diff option. Some people have an opinion that a 2 motor setup with a mechanical diff is superior than having software try...
  16. Powered 40 qt Frunk Cooler and 12 gal Water Tank w/ washdown sprayer concept (by @BoxGods)

How are you going to circulate the air from outside in to the frunk? You'll burn the compressor out if you don't recycle the air
  17. Kim Java’s posing shatters glass pano roof…

At this point my desire for a solid roof just grew a lot. Never really considered hail but that aside, it should be an option...
  18. Roadtrip! Portland OR to Northern Wisconsin.

Here in oz, the national limit is 120kph (approx 75mph) but most states cap it at 110kph (70mph approx) . Most people that tow caravans tend to only go 80kph since it is the legal minimum on some national highways, and they do it simply for the fuel economy. Unsurprising to see more power used...
