went for a different purpose, they are not like to like.
For point to point, I’ve got over 1,000 miles on FSD on my Cybertruck since 14.2 and it works very, very well. Not sure I believe Rivian will get to point to point on vehicles without LiDAR so went for something with better feel and...
hate to break it to you, but new information always comes out between the reveal and production for every manufacturer. And consumers use that new information to make purchase decisions. No one is required to hold onto a three year old mindset, it’s illogical.
they should only be so lucky. they are likely to make new, and more, mistakes like they do with their audio systems, suspensions and app/server connections.
But that’s not surprising, Rivian is subscale. Same reason they can’t start to solve self-driving for many more years.
I don’t blame...
Not everyone needs or wants a Rivian. Get an Audi etron or Macan EV. The Germans also don’t like one pedal driving. Find the vehicle that suits you best.
Rivian should be more concerned with efficiency. My 2025 R1S is averaging less than 1.6 mi/kwh on 22" street tires (OEM) in 16 months on the road. It has the 109 kwh "large" pack so has an effective range of 150 miles full to near dead. Yes, my tires are properly inflated. Yes, it has been...
Inflation is still ripping, if anyone thinks that's not a thing - or that manufacturers who are losing money will introduce their least profitable trims first - they're drinking something I'd like to have.
Maybe that's what you're cooking up? Special potions?
PS when I learned R2 wouldn't...
I have a 2023 Defender. It's now parked as I don't want the DC to DC converter to fail and cripple the vehicle while driving. Recall letters should start flying today. No fix as of yet, at least it's still under warranty.
That noted, the Defender has been rock solid for 3 1/2 years - now it...
I"d get an electrician to take a look at the wiring leading to the outlet and also replace that outlet with a GFCI and weatherproof cover. Even so, I wouldn't recommend pulling more than 10-12 amps continuous and if you're there for a while it never hurts to turn it off for an hour in the...
That's quite fair. But many of the Rivian announcements are for PR value with little substance - how many autonomous vehicles is Rivian delivering to Uber this quarter? Next quarter?
No question VWAG needs software help, and they have a desperation deal in place with Rivian. Clever...
I'd expect R3 to be offset from a mid-lifecycle refresh of R2. If R2 is a 2027 model that implies a late 2028/early 2029 launch date for R3 before the R2 refresh around 2030.
As for an R4, who knows? Rivian needs to get profitable with R2 or R3/R4 never happen and Rivian ends up like Fisker.
I prefer non-black interiors in my vehicles - can be tan, red, white, light grey - pretty much anything but black. So when we picked up a 2025 R1S about 15 months ago Ocean Coast interior was one of my few 'necessary' options. Here is a look at how well it's held up in that time and how I get...
Welcome to EV ownership!
If you have a level 2 charger at home you'll be fine. We've owned our 2025 Rivian R1S for 15 months and nearly 5,000 miles and have taken it on 150 day trips without issue. Oh, and it's never been to a DC fast charger in that time. Wasn't a plan or anything, just...
Closest I've found to cabin overheat is venting the windows and sunshades https://amzn.to/4f0BhsI
Rivian sells a front windscreen shade in the Gear Shop that I use as well. The electrochromatic glass in the main roof panel doesn't do enough by itself thus the reflective shades, which fit great.
I had a 2021 Model S and 2023 Model Y Performance. I found v12 was usable to good on highways, didn't try it anywhere else.
FSD on Cybertruck, even though it's the limited FSD (no summon or smart summon still) is very, very good. I couldn't have said that 18 months ago when it wanted to run...
