  1. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

8-10 years has been my track record with new vehicles. Assuming the firmware and software don't start failing I'll be keeping her. Suspension issues may occur but that'd be true with anything I replace it with. Battery and drivetrain warranty is pretty extensive so not really worried about that...
  2. Anti-EV agenda

My next vehicle will be another EV. Likely another Rivian. I loved working on ICE vehicles my whole life. I understand the workings of them better than most. It's simply an outdated, Rube Goldberg machine at this point. It makes no sense. EV tech, specifically battery range, will continue to...
  3. Software updates that should be here by now.

Current street shown on maps. It used to display that on the old Rivian Nav system. Now it's gone.
  4. When to proactively replace the 12V batteries before they fail??

I took mine in for the dash rattle 2 weeks ago and they did a proactive 12v replacement. I've got a 2023 R1T so not sure what their protocol is but I didn't request it, had no indicator warnings, and no issues. They informed me that would be part of the service when I dropped it off.
  5. Who would like a 6” longer bed?

You might want to check out the Scout Terra. Similar dimensions and overall look of the R1T but a foot longer bed (and therefore 12" longer overall truck length). More tactile/manual controls as well. Not sure when it will materialize but they are saying 2026.
  6. Who would like a 6” longer bed?

Agreed. Part of the reason I went with Rivian was the overall shorter truck length. I haul various things a few times a month so I make do. Most of the time it’s just fine. I also like the roomy cab and would not want the length to come out of there. I use that way more. If I wanted or needed a...
  7. R1T spinning out on Donner pass

There's a saying in Colorado and elsewhere, "Four wheel drive is not four wheel stop." Certainly needed to have aggressive all season or winter tires in those conditions.
  8. Charge to 70% or 80% ?

I go to 85% when I charge. I only charge when I get below 60% or less. I save 95-98% charges for days before I know I’ll be driving a lot. I’m really not too worried about range loss. There’s plenty there.
  9. NACS DC Tesla Adapter News Update: Timetable, Priority, Gear Shop Availability

Not sure its irrational. Perhaps a little communication from Rivian on estimated dates and production issues would have assuaged frustrations.
  10. NACS DC Tesla Adapter News Update: Timetable, Priority, Gear Shop Availability

Rivian took al LONG time to get these delivered. I understand some of that was Tesla's fault but they waited regardless. Some needed an adapter for long trips in that time so had to pay to buy one. I don't see their reselling them as taking advantage. Just getting even for the wait.
  11. RIVN down 10%

The day trader rumor mills push stocks up and down without rational reasoning all the time. Most of the "investors" know nothing about EVs and are just hoping to grab a few percent increase each week. They will also grossly overreact, positively and negatively, to any news about the company. If...
  12. Rivian Announces The Yosemite Charging Outpost

They installed a bunch of Rivian charging stations at the Wawona Hotel store lot at the south end of Yosemite but they are all currently bagged. Hopefully they will open those soon too.
  13. NACS Adapter - still waiting...

Just did that yesterday. Having the adapter is a nice safety net but there are easy ways to work around it. Unlikely to be a show stopper.
  14. Rivian Price Prediction and Forecast Article

New companies and tech are often targeted for pump and dump schemes by the raving geniuses on Wall Street. Invest in what's solid and hold. Don't get caught up in the day trader life unless you can devote a lot of time to it.
  15. Tire Rotation Schedule

Here’s what Rivian says regarding the maintenance schedule for the R1S and R1T: Tire Rotation and Multi-Point Inspection: every 7,500 mi (12,000 km) Comprehensive Inspection: every 22,500 mi (36,000 km) Brake Fluid Flush: every 36 months Coolant Change: every 112,500 mi (180,000 km) Drive Unit...
  16. Manual Tonneau Broken Already

Same thing here. The latch and associated stem are made of a brittle plastic. Almost like it was 3D printed. Unfortunately the plastic end piece that contains the latch is pinch pressed onto the panel so the whole panel will need to be replaced. I've been happy with my R1T overall, but this...
