First, when it works, this is a great Bluetooth speaker. I’ll hold it up to the Bose Bluetooth speaker I have any day. Thank you for that, Rivian! Nice touch and quality sound.
Alas, after using it until it ran out of battery a couple days ago, it didn’t recharge in the R1T while docked and...
I know this is an old threat, but adding to it that ABS Automotive in Fairfax has a lift capable of the weight. They did a tire rotation on my R1T. Charged me $115 for it since it was the first one they did, and had to spend a bit of extra time learning and making sure the vehicle’s system was...
Had mine done at the Shell near Merrifield (Fairfax). Fast. No problems. The inspector loved it, had a lot of questions, was careful, and took about the same time as usual.
WV also have built a lot of wind farms. But my guess (and it is simply a guess) is that few in WV buys or owns an EV (cost?) and thus businesses don’t think about putting in chargers. Sort of a chicken and egg thing. But if the ski resorts, state parks, small town businesses put in more L2...
FYI… for those curious about getting to/from Canaan Valley or Timberline ski resorts. It’s a charging desert in that part of WV. I charged to 308 (Conserve Mode) miles at Front Royal RAN. Drove the 108 miles to Timberline Mountain. Upon arrival, R1T said I had 135 miles of range left. I chalk...
Same here. RAN was great. I’m sure Tesla SCs are equally great for Tesla owners. Truly plug and play, with zero availability or charge speed issues.
But with all of them opening up to more users, I fear the seamless experience, reliability, availability, and performance of these chargers will...
Not looking forward to RAN opening up. Just such a great experience. And by great, I mean reliable, fast, open, and less expensive than all others.
We’ve got a few years of constant change in this still. Will see how it levels out In the long run.
Building out the GA region now makes sense for many reasons. But with the NACS migration, would love to be in the room where Rivian is strategizing how/where to go with RAN next. Has to start shifting to align with selling R2 vehicles at this point.
Yes, far lower than Tesla. But remember, Rivian started production far later than Tesla (and amidst a global pandemic). Rivian is in infancy still, Tesla a mature car company now. The increase in Rivian production is in line with expectations and on the growth curve Rivian is aiming for. Good...
Update: Just had JQ Electric do the install. New 60amp breaker, 6AWG wire, in conduit, everything appearing to work flawlessly. Less than half the cost of the other quotes I got. Found them through Angi app.
EV customer gauging is a real thing.
Update: Beacon just quoted $1950 for the install. And that’s without a surge protector. Excellent response time, really professional the whole way through scheduling, inspecting the gear, inspecting the existing wiring and planning out how they would do it. Seemed like a good company to work...
@Oldsmobile_Mike That’s what I thought. My handyman (certified electrician) wired my porch for two overhead space heaters and two fans, requiring install of new 240 circuits, and fishing the wire through various walls and crawl spaces, and it cost about the same as hooking up one EV charger...
Yes, confirmed all of that. Panel is only 6 years old, added when addition put on house, had to upgrade power to the entire house and add this breaker panel. Plenty of space and power available now.
Thanks. Yeah, wanted to hear from those in DMV as I’m sure it’s more here. Run is from a breaker box in the garage, up to ceiling, around to front of garage, and down to where the charger will be. Probably 40’ total. Can all be on wall since it’s just a garage.
Home charger install: I just got a quote to install the Rivian charger at home for $1465. Seems awfully high to me, considering the breaker box is in the same garage as where the charger will go. Anyone have other costs for comparison?
