I agree that the ride and impacts translating into the steering wheel is way too much. It’s a shame that AP w/ Soft tuning is so sharp and exhibits bump steer. I wish I could go for a drive with other members who “love the ride”to gather a good comparison, alas that won’t happen. I also have a...
That is a perfect explanation of my position on th R1T. It’s just not a good ride on anything other than absolutely perfect road. Once the road goes from a 10 to a 7 or below the ride and the steering wheel feedback is horrible. They should have never been sent out as acceptable from the Ride...
Mine does the same thing!
I was told by the service center it’s normal - haaaaaaa! What a joke.
Just take it to your local tire center and they will get you squared away, at least I would hope so. I had discount tire balance mine via road force and they were all pretty good, just 2 needed a...
Well Ladies and Gents - I would love to report that an alignment made a world of difference but it hasn’t changed or improved one bit! The Caster and Toe was indeed out of spec, albeit slightly. The service center was able to get everything in spec, except for the left/front wheel - apparently...
I have heard from the service center that the heavier weighted steering wheel is apparently being worked on. This is in an effort to combat the “left/right nibble”.
New update. Rivian agreed to service the truck since I had an even worse experience just happen days ago. I towed a 3500lb trailer with a SxS in it - it was nothing short of a shitshow. Any speed past 55 the entire truck was shaking really bad. The service center went over the vehicle and drove...
Well shit - that’s not what I wanted to hear! Tells me that it was design and released from Rivian that way and it’s unfortunately normal. I’m still going forward with the alignment request and I will be certain they share the before and after results, which of course I will post. Problem is...
If I recall correctly from my engineering days if you can get to the most positive spec range of caster you will lessen the impact harshness to the tire/wheel assembly and as such it should feel better from the drivers seat.
Dam - that’s bad, and you had an alignment done by Rivian. I will make certain they provide me the before and after settings when I take mine in.
I know something seems a miss here as the other 3 cars I own do not exhibit this at all. Granted that’s not of statistical relevance, as they are not...
I knew joining the forum would be helpful! I’m thankful for all of your opinions!!
BTW - I don’t have Lane Keep Assist on - never been a fan. I’m a bit too aggressive a driver to be contained by that system. Although I do see it’s benefits on the highway on long trips, but around town - no thanks.
Great insight - thank you. I went to the local service center prior to purchase to do some snooping about on this particular vehicles history. All of the major recalls have indeed been completed, including the steering bolt torque. I will schedule a meeting with the service center.
I would imagine mine is an “Early Build”, as it’s 1301 on the vin. Do you believe that there was a change from earlier vins to more recent in respect to setting the alignment?
Oh thank you for that insight!
I of course have thought an alignment check would put my mind at ease and hopefully uncover the root cause. Glad to hear that others have reported corrections with an alignment.
This is not a good thing by any means. What you’re referring to is sports car related and is what you receive behind the wheel of any modern Corvette and others. I own a C8, and trust me that is a different thing.
This is a case of a jolt (movement left or right) to the wheel depending upon the...
Hello Folks,
New to this group, thank you for the addition.
I have a new to me 22 R1T w/20’s. It unfortunately has an unnerving amount of steering wheel feedback over bad pavement, even while driving on a fairly new paved smooth road there is still slight steering wheel feedback. I wouldn’t...
