That is significantly different from the direction I received via Rivian chat. They said 55k for the tire life under normal use. Sounds like they at least have a mileage warranty.
His videos are good, but they are more information than entertainment. Which is not for everyone. My opinion is he looks at many of these things like a data analyst instead of a host. Which I like and appreciate as someone who will have one of these trucks.
After reading the article, I didn't feel like it was harsh. More a pointing out of things they have noticed. Which I would hope they would so I have a better idea of what to watch for. They concluded by saying they still loved the truck, so that's good.
I have to have the 180 kWh pack to meet my minimum requirements. I would prefer a 500 mile battery due to living in a charging desert and a somewhat cold climate. My adventures typically are about 350 miles round trip (including side trips) and there is currently only ONE L2 (not CCS) charger on...
Agreed. My longest consistent trip is about 300 miles round trip so it will be close. Charging stations (at this point in time) are few and far between in Wyoming, so I'm trying to determine what my options are for longer trips. I may just rent for those times. Also exploring things like...
I have a ton of trees not suitable for logging on my property.
Thinking I could use them to make my own methanol.
What I don't know is how well methanol fuel cells work.
Seems it MAY be a viable way to add a bit of range while on my longer trips. Like 50 miles or so during a week long excursion...
I've dreamt of having an electric pickup since I was a child. So there's that.
AWD a high priority for me. I didn't think it made that much difference until I drove my first Subaru in the snow. Now I'm sold.
Storage out of the cab. I have a hobby farm and people constantly give me crap about...
There are some videos out there of an R1T tearing up the track. And cornering nearly as well on dirt. Performance looks spectacular, especially considering it's a truck! I think most of usl will be happy with it doing what we want it to do.
Regarding performance: I agree it's not about 0-60 times. For me, its the ability to get instant response if I need to get around a vehicle quickly (ie...60-80 times). It's about having 4 wheels with power all of the time and enough ground clearance to avoid rocks sticking up at random places in...
I agree that these laws were set up against the big three. Doesn't make them good laws. I hate buying cars because of dealership business practices. Except Saturn. I loved the Saturn experience. Which was as close to online buying as you could get in the early 90's
I'm pretty ignorant in this field: is that done to decrease dendrite formation during charging? Or to allow charging to happen faster? What's the advantage?
They didn't really specify how fast they went, just that they exceeded the targets. It would have been great if they had been more specific with speeds attained.
I worry about the sun visor thing as well. My Subaru screen becomes unreadable in full sunlight. Was hoping for a visor or some kind of slant which would reduce glare.
I did confirm via email with Rivian that there would be tow hooks font and back. So they must have them hidden in some way...
