  1. This crash totaled my R1-T watch video!

So many elaborate responses. Ford obviously at fault, failure to yield. Just because stopped cars leave a gap doesn't mean you can try to blindly dash through lanes of traffic you cannot see. The video manipulation is embarrassingly obvious and incriminating. The officer is correct that you...
  2. Hyundai IONIQ 9 - Global Premiere

I expect the IONIQ 9 will be a compelling option in the 3-row EV segment. All the info released in the last 24 hours shows that it is a more compelling offering than the EV9 and at a price point lower than the R1S or EX90. (Anticipated price point, anyways) People will have their own styling...
  3. New R1S Competitor: Cadillac Vistiq

Will be interesting to see if/when Rivian addresses the captains chairs possibility in the second row. Most competitors in 3-row EV segment now have this option. $80-100k doesn't scream benchseats only.
  4. Rivian Recall - Car Costume Update Exterior Lighting

Warning! Killjoy response... Rivian is lucky noone got injured from this stunt. You would hope there was some serious soul-searching about what your software QA process is after this. Impacing vehicle safety? Really? Hard to justify spending the engineering resources on these types of...
  5. Honest Opinion From Current Owners? - Re: R1S

The Hyundai 2025 IONIQ 5 or IONIQ 6 AWD and 84 kWh battery seems like a solid choice. It is performing well in cold climates and just needs that rear window wiper for snow/sleet accumulation on the highway. Range would be about 3 miles/kWh, or about 225 miles.
  6. Regenerative Braking Too Strong: Dealbreaker for Me?

FWIW, there have been many comments over the years about people not liking the Regen in the R1. I just don't know if those people still bother participating in these forums. You will mostly get responses on here from R1 owners who have gotten used to it, and their general (if polite) feedback...
  7. Q3 2024 Production / Delivery Numbers… Not good

What a hot mess. With a supply disruption to their Enduro drive units it would make sense to scale up EDVs and Dual R1s. And yet they are starting to push the Tri- and soon Quad Enduros, which will just exacerbate the supply challenges. Yet these will be the most profitable vehicles. But...
  8. Q3 2024 Production / Delivery Numbers… Not good

I think the bigger story here is the smaller delivery number. That sure makes it look like a demand issue, not a supply issue. The production rate still exceeded the deliveries by 3k. So inventory is growing. Seems like the story about production disruption is probably true, but is masking...
  9. Preorder Pricing Expiry

The idea there are still remaining perks for 'early' reservation holders is nuts! Rivian has been more than reasonable! It's been 2.5 years since the price hikes. It's time for everyone to move on! I cannot wait for October 1! Then we can see what the real supply/demand for R1 actually is...
  10. Devastated… rear ended in my brand new week-old 2025 R1S

That really sucks. It is probably totaled. I’m sure there is frame damage based on the look at the truck, how much mass it was hauling, how it went under your rig, and not to mention your description of the brown liquid coming out! There aren’t that many Gen2 2025s out there yet, so repair...
  11. Can the 2025 R1S Dual Max build with 21" wheels or not?

Oh and you have to take delivery by next Wednesday (7/31) ! So for anyone that's been waiting for a Dual Max delivery, this seems like a great way to skip the line! If only... The more I look at this email from Rivian... the dumber it is looking.
  12. Can the 2025 R1S Dual Max build with 21" wheels or not?

Got an email today from Rivian, advertising the 2025 R1S Dual-Max for $999/month lease. Per the lease terms it says you have to configure it with 21" wheels. The 2025 Dual Max R1S is the longest-range EV SUV on the market with an EPA est. range of up to 410 miles.^1 Lease a 2025 R1S Dual Max...
  13. Rivian Announces The Yosemite Charging Outpost

Looks an awful lot like a drive-thru in that first photo. The $$$ of snacks my kids would eat in the charging time…
  14. So many legacy auto manufacturers walking back plans to electrify. Good or bad for Rivian?

I think plugin hybrids make for a great stopgap that would work for most people, and can come from legacy brands. After that it will be Chinese BEVs unless we tariff the hell out of them, which we are starting. Neither scenario is particularly beneficial for Rivian, but there's room for the...
  15. Rivian offering preorder price difference vouchers for remaining price protected pre-order holders

I am looking forward to the 4th quarter when there is finally a level playing field on R1 price to assess the actual supply/demand for the R1 products. All this pre-order stuff has really distorted the demand side. And since Rivian has not disclosed pre-order sales numbers vs. post-increase...
  16. Canceled my R1S order :-(

I didn't say anything about using the brakes and I'm not against one-pedal driving as an option. I think all vehicles should give you the option to coast, pressing neither the gas nor the brake, e.g. without having to feather the gas. Many EVs allow for this driving style. Right now Rivian...
  17. Canceled my R1S order :-(

To the OP, you are not alone. I found the Flickinger Park location to be odd, I hated that the R1S drove like a 3-ton american pickup truck (don't need that after more than a decade of driving an EV.), And I find the forced one-pedal driving modes to be something i have no interest in dealing...
  18. Rivian Quality - Two Genuine Questions

Love this thread. So many anecdotal responses that reinforce the original point. I think deep down you already know the answer. Right now a Rivian is probabalistically a bad choice. Expensive, complex and relatively unproven. Very likely to have more problems than your Honda and Toyota...
  19. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

My situation is eerily similar to the OP. The thread title implies a certain value-for-money decision making. In other words, if money had been less of an object I think you would have bought a Model S or X already. So I've decided to overshare my perspective. I intend my next vehicle to be an...
