  1. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

Similar situation for me. I decided on the Michelin Defender Platinums because while not ATs, the sidewall looks more aggressive than the MS2. More expensive but better looking, imo. And I'm looking forward to improved efficiency for those rides where I need just a bit more. This thread from...
  2. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

That's what I ultimately decided, too. Reality is this car is used 98% of the time on pavement, hauling kids around town. And in Northern California we have very mild weather, sometimes snow at our mountain place. When I want to do real off road stuff I take my Jeep anyway.
  3. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

I got the Platinums. Maybe overkill but I like the sidewall tread, makes me not feel like I'm not entirely giving up the AT
  4. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

America's Tire had them at $430/tire, same as my Costco. And they applied a $80 off "Found it Lower" discount.
  5. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

This post inspired me. Went to America's Tire yesterday and ordered the Defender LTX tires, will be installed Friday. I hate giving up tires with years left on the tread but it's gotten to the point where I can't enjoy my $80k vehicle because of $2k tires. I'll give an update!
  6. So at what mileage did everyone ditch these 20" inch Pirellis?

Our R1S is my wife's daily driver. I drove it recently and commented on the unholy roar of her tires, she hadn't noticed. Of course, now that I pointed it out it's all she hears. We'll be swapping them out shortly but still undecided on which tire to get.
  7. R2 spotted with rear quarter window pop-out / vented + aero wheels

Or like they're queued up in front of the Jurassic Park visitor center
  8. The Review Your Service Loaner Vehicle thread!

I just returned a Chevy Silverado EV when I picked up my R1S from South SF Service Center and I could NOT WAIT to get out of it. Absolutely awful driving experience that made me so glad to have a Rivian. Ugly, heavy, lumbering oaf of a vehicle. The Bluetooth had to be set up each time I got in...
  9. Rivian Q2 2025 Earnings Results

The problem is, that's exactly what Musk, Thiel, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Cook and the other billionaires influencing public policy want. Starve companies like Rivian for oxygen and then scoop them up for cheap. Fill in the same blanks for farmland, real estate, companies, etc.
  10. Seen in Austin …

That person has a post somewhere in this forum with every overly dramatic superlative they could think of.
  11. Why RIVN Rising

I have nothing more than anecdotal experience to back this up - but I've seen a handful of non-Amazon EDVs recently. I'm hopeful they will start selling a ton of these and boost overall revenue and vehicle sales.
  12. What did you replace your 20" OEM Pirelli tires with and why?

I would have expected better efficiency with these given they're smaller and lighter than the OEM Pirellis. Why do you think the mileage is worse? Edit: Sorry, I was looking at the wrong size. Looks like you're right, these are actually heavier than the Pirellis!
  13. What did you replace your 20" OEM Pirelli tires with and why?

I've seen a few threads about this but I always get a bit turned around when people respond with different sized tires. This one most recently is a good read. Hard to believe the Nitto Recon Grapplers are a 25% efficiency gain, though. I'm in the same boat and I like more rubber so I'd like to...
  14. Tesla board opened search for a CEO to succeed Elon Musk, WSJ reports

This is such an important point. A new CEO would just be optics, it won't change the fact that he owns 410 million shares.
  15. Rear screen entertainment, when?

I would expect never. Primary use case for rear screen entertainment is kids and the screen is too low for kids in car seats, not to mention increasing the likelihood of car sickness. Kids older than that have their own devices and onboard wifi for a more pleasant viewing experience.
  16. Rivian Eying Emeryville (CA) For New Service Center

Yes! San Jose and SSF are so inconvenient I truly considered West Sacramento for a recent visit. The amount of Rivians I see driving around town it seems crazy to me they haven't established additional service centers in the east bay.
