  1. R2 vs Model Y 70-MPH Highway Range Test (by Out of Spec)

On weekends, I often drive to scenic spots to enjoy hiking or mountain biking on the trails. In such cases, since I need to return to the location where I last charged, my usable driving range is effectively half of the vehicle's total range. For instance, if I charge the battery to 90% and...
  2. R2 vs Model Y 70-MPH Highway Range Test (by Out of Spec)

If you look at the speed and distance, each of the different tests lasted between 20 and 30 minutes. The 1,000 km tests are more realistic, including charging time, while weather situations is also a big differentiator.

    M3 P -> 310.1 mi / 82.2 kW = 3.77 mi / kWh R2 P -> 253.0 mi / 89.3 kWh = 2.88 mi / kWh (- 30 %)

  5. Munro Video - R2 Structural Battery Pack Explained by Engineering Team

I hope there will be an other video showing the internal of the battery pack and the transmission module. So far it was half an hour video talking in front of a full assembled battery. I missed the Sandy Munro type of video showing details of the components and explaining the difference...
  6. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

The $50k will affect families considering getting a Model Y L, don't seems very democratique. It would have be nicer to have an income limitation, like $200k, in the case of the $7.5k tax rebate. Because someone able to afford a Lucid will get the $3.5k since there is no income limit.
  7. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

They could have included Aptera, whose HQ is in Carlsbad, CA. Maybe 3-wheel and motorcycles are not included?
  8. R2 12V Battery Location - Photo

Why not using an Li-Ion battery? Smaller, save weight and last longer.
  9. R2 Highway Efficiency Test: 80 MPH vs 70 MPH Changed Everything

The criser might have keep a video, and not impossible that the motorcycle get a ticket later. There are few videos on YouTube showing it...
  10. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

Interesting memorable story !!! I remember seen the Marco Polo few years ago. Starting the California high-speed rail project in an area that didn't require tunneling seemed like a good idea, but the project has already taken so long and gone so far over budget that its completion is now in...
  11. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

One reason the California High-Speed Rail (CA HSR) project is moving forward is the practical impossibility of building new airports or expanding existing ones in major California cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. As part of efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, some EU member...
  12. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

The requirement included in the bill, that a company must be headquartered in California, can be considered highly politically biased, IMO, given that Tesla is the only automaker with a factory in the state. In contrast, Rivian manufactures vehicles in Normal, Illinois, and is currently...
  13. California's new $3500 EV rebate favors Rivian over Tesla due to HQ location

This is not clear to me. I previously bought a Tesla and paid everything, including insurance and DMV. But added my wife under my Tesla account, DMV, and my insurance as co-driver. Also at the time, in 2018, CA was offering a $3,500 rebate for Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). And I...
  14. Sad, but I think I’m out

If I don't plan to keep a car and don't want to deal with selling it, I would take a lease with no down payment and one single payment to save on high money factors and interests. This would cover cars with uncertain depreciation or maintenance cost after the warranty expire.
  15. Rivian R2 + 1Up Bike Rack - Tested

Do you think you would have been able to open the hatch without the need to lower it, in the case of the single bike rack?
  16. Sad, but I think I’m out

I fail to see the logic behind leasing a car, unless you run a business and can claim the vehicle costs as a tax deduction. For an individual, leasing means paying fees for three years and then returning a car that is practically new, with only 30,000 miles or less. Including extra fees for...
  17. Rivian R2 + 1Up Bike Rack - Tested

When folded, can you open the hatch? Is so what distance will the hatch be from the rack? Maybe when you get chance, could you show a profile picture showing the hatch been a little ajar. Thnx.
  18. Garage fit for R2 (vs R1S) - Height & Width Dimensions. Does it fit in your garage?

Is it why the Fell St was closed at Gough st? - I was wondering if there was some road work or a fair, something common in this area. Note: I attended the previous San Francisco R1S party, but Fell St was not closed, and only the Linden St connecting to the Lux Fit plaza was close to traffic...
  19. R2 Favorite Features - What's Yours?

I would certainly like the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) capabilities. Those could be very practical when camping or in case of power failure at home.
  20. R2 Favorite Features - What's Yours?

My R2 favorite features would be to continue using seamlessly my current EV charging network... I mean having the NACS plug instead of CCS makes charging more simple and reliable. I am just relating to my 10+ years of experience using NACS and occasionally CCS superchargers.
