  1. Software defined vehicles: no better than a smartphone?

You know cars have been heavily driven by software for a few decades now, right? The difference now is that they can be updated over the air instead of having to go into a shop. So they can stay current for a longer period of time than older cars.
  2. Introducing the 2027 R1 -- R1S / R1T

My oldest has decided that he likes having his own special door to climb to his booster seat in the back. (The special door is the lift gate. We just leave one of the third row seats folded down.)
  3. Rival: 2027 Kia EV3 starts at $29,890 in USA. Up to 321 miles range

Idk, maybe. Some concerns there though. Also a big part of the appeal is sliding doors
  4. Rival: 2027 Kia EV3 starts at $29,890 in USA. Up to 321 miles range

My wife really wants the next family car after the R1S to be a minivan but wants it to be electric. Told her no way we’re getting a Buzz after how awful the ID.4 was. Hopefully, Toyota or Honda get something together at some point since those are the only “good” minivans I guess.
  5. Rival: 2027 Kia EV3 starts at $29,890 in USA. Up to 321 miles range

I hate the design language of every Kia and Hyundai, which is too bad because they seem like otherwise solid cars. In case anyone was wondering, the best looking Korean EV imo is the Ioniq 9 which is mainly ruined by the weird very back end and also I don’t really care for the pixelated head...
  6. Disillusioned New R1T Owner

Interesting, you’re right. I still would challenge OP on the “I was too far along and had to buy once I was already there” framing though. No one made them go through with the purchase but themselves
  7. Disillusioned New R1T Owner

No one is making you buy the vehicle. There’s some grace period in most states to return a purchased vehicle. If you don’t like it, I’d recommend taking it back now and returning it. No sense being miserable over a major purchase for years
  8. Disillusioned New R1T Owner

Safelite does Rivian recalibrations. I know because I just had it done this week
  9. No real AM or FM radio in the R2

Old enough to have exclusively used radio when I started driving. Young enough to have switched to streaming cause I’m not stuck in my ways.
  10. No real AM or FM radio in the R2

FM radio is mostly ads…. I’m not sure if you’ve actually thought through what you value and where the best place is to get that.
  11. No real AM or FM radio in the R2

it’s weird that you would use the example of audio fidelity at the beginning and then somehow try to frame that to support your argument for FM radio
  12. No real AM or FM radio in the R2

just because there’s a lot of old people still driving who shouldn’t be anymore doesn’t mean it’s not obsole
  13. No real AM or FM radio in the R2

Lotta weird people in this thread getting upset about a really outdated piece of technology…
  14. I bought a $14,000 Rivian R2..........

I love my R1S and will probably get a R2 at some point as well. But this seems like a bad idea. I’m not sure what the upside bet is for a car company. Yeah, I know, Tesla…. But there’s so many weird confounding factors there where the valuation doesn’t even make sense for Tesla, but is also...
  15. In the world of Luce, The Rivian R3X could shine

Trying to pretend that you didn’t use AI to at least aide in drafting is dubious at best. Just count the em dashes, look at the sentence structure and formatting.
  16. R1S vs R2 = Tier 1 Luxury vs Entry Level EV?

I also have a gen 1 R1S, but to be fair the slate sky interior is a bit nicer than what we have. That’s a whole higher premium tier that didn’t exist before. But I’d say the R2 interior feels comparable to the Gen 1 R1S, maybe just a little bit of a step down but not in a way that you’re going...
  17. I pity the textin-foo in the Tesla who barrels into a R1T...

As someone who just fought a 5 month battle with them this year as the insured, they suck and you got lucky. Definitely would recommend anyone insured with them go with someone else
  18. I pity the textin-foo in the Tesla who barrels into a R1T...

Nah they know. Get ready for a trip through hell. I would have filed through my own insurance and had them subrogate it out with GEICO
  19. R2 soft close frunk and “Dynamic Roof”

front can be a different kind of dirty though. I just did a long roadtrip that completed last night and now the front of the car is plastered in insects. I agree that right now I don’t want to touch it
