  1. Bricked - Driving Disabled – Service park brake system

Oh interesting, it didn’t occur to me to change ride height. Resets didn’t work either. It did prevent drive or neutral “Driving Disabled Service Park Brake System Immediately”.
  2. Bricked - Driving Disabled – Service park brake system

They’re currently saying calipers are seized but don’t know what caused it. They don’t know how to replace them either because they’re clamped onto rotors and they’re unable to get them to release.
  3. Bricked - Driving Disabled – Service park brake system

What was the cause in your situation? I’m in the middle of this fault at the moment and they don’t know why/cause.
  4. Bricked - Driving Disabled – Service park brake system

That’s likely why. Volvo will as many other premium brands that I know have that policy. I also know Volvo will tow for you even if it is out of warranty and you’ve been getting it serviced at Volvo dealers.
  5. Urgent Help: Software Update Blocked on Rare So Flo Rivian

Why would that preclude an update? Sure there are probably things that would likely impact warrantable but not serviceability or software support. Mods are to be expected. Look at owners updating or completely replacing their stock (disappointing) audio systems. They’re not getting blocked for...
  6. Hot take: Google Maps is not really much of an upgrade

You’ve missed the point I was making which is it’s always shown %. Previously it was characterized as miles of range left. Clearly they can predict the shot if actual range you have left if they can fairly accurately predict your arrival SoC. They just need to extrapolate based on your driving...
  7. Hot take: Google Maps is not really much of an upgrade

Yes Nav arrival range on destination is based on actual driving, conditions, etc. BUT the SoC calc is nothing more than your arrival range divided by your model’s EPA reported range. It’s pointless - what would be good is if Rivian computes actual expected range rather off of EPA. It’s easy...
  8. Hot take: Google Maps is not really much of an upgrade

SoC at destination while technically new, it is really more of an aid for those that don’t do math well in their heads. Rivian‘s battery gauge when displaying miles is actually computed as a percentage of SoC since Rivian bases it on EPA reported max. The new maps only makes it more glaringly...
  9. Gen2 22" Range Wheels ARE compatible with Gen1...

Of course they are! They’re even supported in the Settings service menu! If Wassym didn’t want them he would have blocked their selection.
  10. NAV freezing on 2025.14.01

I thought it was a Gen2 only feature. A bigger problem we encountered is poor navigation on roadtrips. I often run Apple Maps to augment Rivian to avoid unnecessarily prolonging a trip. Most recently Rivian was trying to make our trip about 4.5hrs longer. Following Apple Maps we arrived at our...
  11. Apple CarPlay Ultra First Look

OMG and on a recent road trip it was inexplicably adding 4.5hrs to a segment Apple Maps said would only take less than 45min. I followed Apple’s guidance via BT and not only does it provide better navigation it‘s voice guidance/prompts are more intuitive. Got to our final destination before...
  12. Apple CarPlay Ultra First Look

You mean like this? It’s been SoC aware for a long time on CarPlay capable EVs. It also automatically adds charging stops. What’s especially nice is it also gives you an idea of how much of a deviation a charger will be from your route if you’d like to add one or search for one on your...
  13. Trailer Assist imminent?

All these features were available 2 yrs ago when we rented a Bolt before we got our Rivian. Then this week Rivian gave me a MachE and now I miss CarPlay even more after 1.5yrs of lacking it with Rivian. This seems like a new feature. I don’t recall this ability when we rented the Bolt 2yrs ago...
  14. Trailer Assist imminent?

    Um
you’re saying EV unaware. This doesn’t look EV unaware to me. And really love how it uses the same default approach for charging stops giving me an idea of how much of deviation it will be from my route. And the real advantage is its fully comprehensive database of networks and actually...
  15. Apple Music issue since 2025.06.01

Yep, I’ve been having this problem (seems to return about every couple of days). The first time a soft reset seemed to resolve it. When it came back I tried the soft reset and it didn’t resolve it. I tried logout and login and that did it. The next time it happened I tried soft, then hard, and...
  16. Strange ICEd charger interaction today.

True - in a lot of states it is at least a $150 fine to park in an EV stall and not be charging.
  17. Accident caught on rear camera - hit by 16 yo on her phone!

You’ve hit on precisely why it’s better to go with your own insurance. If your coverage is appropriate for your Rivian (high value) and you’re hit by someone with lesser insurance then your insurance will cover your repairs and then is up to them to negotiate recovery from the at fault party’s...
  18. Do motors actually heat the battery?

Yes totally agree and I’ve experienced when the battery cools to extremes (30s and lower) and at those battery temps the system does use bleed heat to help warm it up. But generally the heat energy of the motors isn’t used to maintain battery temps. It’s especially evident if for example you...
  19. No Longer Wish to Use Tesla Supercharger Network

What I don’t understand and seems to be an irony to me is there’s clearly a lot of anti-Tesla sentiment, so much so that a regular post across Rivian forums and r/Rivian (and many other EV brand and general EV forums) is “Dumped my Model 3” or some enthusiastic variation of getting rid of their...
  20. Do motors actually heat the battery?

They do but they primarily function as heaters to precondition in advance of fast charging. The cooling system otherwise doesn’t actively cool or heat the batteries. It’s likely the system is split except for when pre-conditioning when it does send extra energy to the motors to warm them up and...
