That's great feedback! So for you, the primary focus is a drawer system instead of the sleeping platform? For the fridge, are you looking for a full size fridge or something more like a drawer fridge? I've attached a picture of our standard drawer+ CD30 fridge with no sleeper.
That's great feedback on the sleeping platform+ storage. That's probably the single biggest advantage of our systems: Sure you can sleep on the floor but then you have effectively ZERO storage capacity for necessary camping or activity equipment.
Our current design concept retains 100% access...
That's great to hear! We always sorta half joke/advise that you have to get it wrong A LOT before you get it perfect! It's worthwhile for us to tear things out, re-design, iterate, etc to yield an optimized final product. That's very hard to justify on a personal setup!
Our design queue is...
Well we can make sure to get the Rivian taken care of! Adding the drawer fridge really does increase the utility of the system without much compromise at all!
haha very much understood on the sleeping arrangement!
One thing that we find makes our sleeping platforms valuable is their ability to create a durable, scratch/impact resistant, long storage area. Think transporting 2x4's, etc. While the rivian has a great fold-flat floor, the compromise is...
Totally understand! we consider access to that to be paramount, so the design we have sketched up retains 100% open access to that using some trickery, as long as people are ok losing the 3rd row.
We're picturing a flat tire on a heavily-loaded camping trip while in the rain on a busy...
That's good feedback on the 3rd row, we are hoping there are others with the same thought!
You bring up a great point on the issue of headroom vs. drawer space. Our general philosophy has been that we optimize the balance between overhead space and storage space as much as possible. In an SUV...
Hi Everyone. We had the opportunity to perform a very thorough evaluation of an R1S recently with the intent of designing a convertible (i.e. preserves 2nd row seats) sleeping platform and drawer system.
Our assessment was the 3rd row seats are easily removed (similiar general attachment...

Our existing Land Cruiser System is 13inches total height, which leaves 28inches overhead. This is driven by the 2nd row seat height when folded, which obviously is different on the Rivian. We will be using our 100% self supported sleeper sliding mechanism (as used in the our 4Runner and FJ...
For those sleeping in their R1S, any interest in being able to preserve cargo storage and have a full 6ft bed to sleep on? That's the primary advantage of our convertible sleeping platform: You keep the 2nd row, and can quickly deploy the sleeper to allow for easy set up of a bed without having...
Very much agree with that! We utilize a multi stage slide on our kitchen specifically to get the stove as far away from the vehicle as possible. We also spec the system with a removable stove for exactly this reason, to provide that flexibility!
Absolutely! We'd love to have you stop by at some point so we can get a feel for what our R1S offering would look like. I'm currently about to welcome baby #3 into the world, but by the end of sept/early October we'd love to check that out!
Hi Everyone,
I am one of the owners for Air Down Gear Up, a company that specializes in premium vehicle storage, cooking and sleeping solutions. I just wanted to introduce what we do here and see what people think! We think our systems would be well suited for the Rivian crowd! We're big fans...
