  1. Rivian Autonomy & AI Day! Lidar, Hands-Free Driving, Rivian Assistant & more announced

$8000 for life or $99/mo. I'd easily pay $10,000 for FSD on my Gen1 R1S, but Rivian has decided to not isolate Gen1's to an useable Driver+ instead.
  2. Rivian Autonomy & AI Day! Lidar, Hands-Free Driving, Rivian Assistant & more announced

Driver+ on the Gen1 is just terrible. I'm not looking for L3 autonomous here - no Lidar necessary. What I expect is for the vehicle continue to improve beyond its current capability leveraging the existing equipment on the vehicle. I have two reference points from prior/current vehicles - a 2018...
  3. Rivian Autonomy & AI Day! Lidar, Hands-Free Driving, Rivian Assistant & more announced

Gotta love how they use Gen1 adopters for data collection and then leave us behind with nothing to show for it but a high-latency Siri clone as consolation. Expected, and yet still disappointing. Bring back Compass Yellow and I might consider upgrading.
  4. R1 Bunnies

R1Ss are all over the place in the East Bay of CA. Not nearly as ubiquitous as Teslas (obviously), but gaining traction. While we see every color represented throughout the week, I seem to be the only Compass Yellow rolling around ?
  5. Average Rivian Insurance in California

$987/6mo. State Farm, clean record. $500 collision, $100 comp. (Yes, I know those deductibles are ridiculously low, but I did the math on $500/$500 and $1000/$1000 and the lower deductible seemed to pencil just fine.)
  6. Alexa Map Integration Issues

Same experience here. Alexa navigation is near useless. Screens also laggy, especially when transitioning to the open hood/gate screen.
  7. Scaringe: Autonomy revenues within a year + R2 unveiling likely in Q1 2024

The Driver+ feature is terrible. My 2017 Volvo XC90 had a more advanced adaptive cruise control. The fact that Driver+ bails on you without adequate notice on reasonable highway curves makes it not only unusable - it’s straight up dangerous.
