It is seriously scary.. and the type of thing that is easy to brush off until you experience it yourself. Driving up a windy mountain road at night, no street lights, and all you see is white.
Fog lamps
4.11(1) A motor vehicle may be equipped with 2 fog lamps, mounted on the front of the vehicle below the headlamps, that are capable of displaying only white or amber light.
(2) Each fog lamp must be
(a) mounted not more than 30 cm below the headlamps, and
(b) adjusted and aimed so...
I too, thought about doing this. I just wish they would add a feature to turn off or dim the light bar and headlights. That would be a real safety improvement. I am writing in as a customer feedback submission on the app, and would encourage others to do the same.
As it is, I am not driving it...
Yes, a serious safety issue. I also agree with some of the other posters that the culprit could be a combination of the super strong headlights + the horizontal lightbar. I am going to put in a feedback ticket with Rivian, I suggest you and others do the same and hopefully they will come out...
Exactly. As another data point, from the other older thread: "My 2010 Avalanche and 2016 BMW X3 allow you to turn on the fogs independent of the headlights. "
I too, was on a ski trip. For an adventure vehicle like the R1, this seems like a simple software feature that should be added...
The issue is that in older cars, it hasn't really been a huge issue because the main headlights were not super powerful LEDs. In fact, I didn't really care that I could turn on just the fog lights on my Porsche, as the halogens are not that strong and I typically would want to use both anyway...
Depends on the jurisdiction I’m sure, but in BC, Canada where I live:

Love my Gen 1 R1T. However, recently drove in a snowstorm at night and experienced something I do not wish to ever again. The R1's headlights, which are fantastic in normal conditions, are far too bright when in a snowstorm at night. They reflect off of the snowflakes, and bounce right back into...

(Bloomberg) -- A cracked skull. A foot fracture. A back laceration so severe it required surgery. An amputated finger.
These are among the injuries suffered by workers at Rivian Automotive Inc., which has only one factory yet has racked up more US safety...
I have to admit… the HVAC settings in this car confuse me (might be starting to show my age…). In every other car I’ve had, the outside air / internal air recirculation button has been very straightforward (usually a slider toggle in older cars, or a button to choose “Internal recirculation”...
I agree. It is also possible that the service centers are mis-diagnosing the issue with "dead actuator". They don't know what the issue is, so they just replace the whole thing.
I wish Rivian had decided to save money by going with a simple push-to-open charger door latch (exactly the same as the gas door on ICE cars)... and instead given us a real horn instead of the clown car horn we got.
I am having the exact same issue. Updated to latest firmware yesterday (March 25). Today, the charge port door will not open via the external 3 line capacitive touch sensor, nor will it open via the internal software touchscreen. No sounds, no movement, nothing. Never had an issue before this...
