I’ve had the 12V battery replaced twice by Rivian as a precautionary measure, even though I’ve had no issues whatsoever. Not sure what’s going on? Has anyone had trouble with the 12V battery?
Sorry but I think the issues you are describing are specific to your car. I have a late Gen 1 R1S and, for the most part, I have not experienced any of the issues you are complaining about, other than self driving/autonomy, which I don't really care about. 3rd row functionality can be better and...
VW Group is cutting back on its EV investments - looks like their Scout brand is going to focus on the Harvester EREV powertrain with pure BEVs on hold. This does not bode well for Rivian, who has an ongoing partnership with VW and has benefitted from large cash infusions from them in the past...
Not a surprise. The main rationale of getting a pickup truck is towing, and EV pickups can't compete with ICE at that. Plus most of these truck sales are in flyover country, that has much less charging infrastructure compared to the populated coasts. If I were in charge of Rivian I would focus...
I’ve had a great experience with mine since Nov 2023, essentially no issues. There was one recall where they replaced the 12V battery but I never had any issues with the original one. My main concern is when things do go wrong, there are long service appointment delays here in Southern...
I haven’t had any major issues but I have my fears if anything were to go wrong, or God forbid, ever had an accident with my R1S. There is only one SC in all of San Diego, and Rivian is probably one of the most popular cars on the road here - there are a dozen in my suburban subdivision alone...
I've had a trouble free experience with my Gen 1 R1S which I took delivery of in Nov 2023, so I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade. Heard too many stories of Gen 2 vehicles that are still having issues, and with service appointments difficult to get where I live, I'm going to hold off for a while. If...
If you’re looking for an R1T replacement then you can consider the Ford F-150 Lightning or Hummer EV. For a direct R1S competitor it’s going to be harder to find anything suitable as an EV. I’m really excited about Scout, that would be a nice lower priced cool alternative, but it won’t be out...
I was thinking of doing the same thing and ordering the A2Z adapter. I’m just a bit nervous that if anything happens it could void the warranty. That being said, I haven’t heard of any documented stories of this happening and people actually getting into trouble with the warranty. Worst I heard...
Right now there is nothing available at all at SD SC. Thank God nothing is broken so I can just keep driving it. Tires are the least of my problems. I’m just shocked how bad things are with service availability and incompetence that I’m seeing in other people’s comments. I was thinking of...
Yeah really don’t care for a showroom. What we need is another service center. Good luck getting an appointment here in San Diego! Plenty of horror stories when the car just sits there for weeks before they can even look at it. A total disaster!
I tried requesting a service appointment for the 7,500 mile tire rotation and multi-point inspection. According to the Rivian app there are no appointments available at the San Diego SC, none whatsoever. Thankfully I’m not experiencing any issues, but that would be my biggest fear owning this...
Does anyone know if they’re going to bring Sirius XM satellite radio to Rivian? I heard it was going to be available as an app connected via LTE since there isn’t actual radio hardware in the car.
As many have noted, this seems to be very location dependent. Vast majority of Rivians are sold in affluent coastal areas such as Southern California, Bay Area, New York and other metro areas. There are nearly a dozen in my neighborhood in North County San Diego, and I see them everywhere...
Never had any issues with ride quality before, but I did notice the AC is working better and love the ability to save the vent positions. I wish we had physical controls for air vents. Also the camera improvements are noticeable, love the blind spot monitoring on the driver screen.
I would expect the Pirelli’s on the R1 to last 20k miles, give or take. Could be less if you drive on concrete freeways like we have in Southern California. If you drive a lot in Conserve 2WD mode a lot expect the front tires to wear out even faster. All Purpose mode is best for a more even...
According to the Rivian email I received today, “Only Rivian-provided adapters should be used with your Rivian vehicle and with the Supercharger network. Using either an AC charging adapter or a third-party DC charging adapter at a Tesla Supercharger could render your vehicle inoperable.”
Is...
