  1. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

They say they do plan to charge a subscription for it in Gen 2 vehicles as it improves, presumably once it's available on all roads and not just pre-mapped highways.
  2. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

I say it isn't that hard because the threshold for how reliable/effective their eye tracking is, is pretty subjective. As far as I am aware it's not like they have to go through some certification process to prove to NTHSA that their eye tracking is good enough to replace the capacitive touch...
  3. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

Tesla doesn't make a real SUV. Only a smallish crossover. I still love the Rivian, just wish it had FSD.
  4. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

Are you on HW3 or HW4 and what FSD version? Mine is very smooth stopping for cars. HW3 was much worse. I've not heard of FSD rear ending people in the forums or anything.
  5. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

My Gen 1 R1S does have an interior camera, but they said it was positioned wrong and they found out after the fact it was not capable of driver monitoring to replace the capacitive touch as they originally intended.
  6. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

I'm not, I'm just an owner disappointed in Rivians crappy ADAS. To the extent I've promoted Comma AI, which btw you brought up in this thread not me, it's been at my own time and substantial expense contributing to the development getting it ported over for Rivian, spending thousands to finally...
  7. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

Tesla has had their own flaws. That doesn't excuse Rivian for pulling a bait and switch on their loyal customers...
  8. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

I believe they will do hands-off. That isn't that hard, they could turn the capacative touch requirement off tomorrow no matter how good the eye tracking actually is or able to replace it. Eyes-off-the-road autonomous driving, I put the chance of that happening within the decade at essentially...
  9. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

They could make good on their original promises and upgrade Gen 1 vehicles to Gen 2 ADAS hardware like Tesla did. I mean, that would be the right thing to do. Not just say "oh well, tough luck..."
  10. Reminder: Rivian Promised Level 3 "Eyes Off the Road" Autonomy on Gen 1

I love my Rivian overall but I just found this in the Wayback machine and wanted to revisit and show some of the newcomers that we were, in fact, promised much more advanced autonomous driving in Gen 1 vehicles than what was ultimately delivered. I know they have their excuses, but I can't help...
  11. Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

Not saying it's definitely not legit but I also can't speak for the legitimacy of that Gofundme. Anyone wanting to support Lukas can buy his harness instead of the one from Comma. Yes, it's $150 more, but it helps fund the development. You will get it about a month sooner. Then just buy the...
  12. Comma AI/OpenPilot Update -- Watch it in Action on Gen1 Rivian (Video)

Yes it works the same while towing, no problem. I have used it in previous vehicles while towing.
  13. Comma AI/OpenPilot Update -- Watch it in Action on Gen1 Rivian (Video)

Yeah that was to help fund the development, I did the same. Lukas does this unpaid. Thanks to all of those who contributed and helped bring the Rivian support to fruition.
