  1. R1 to ski Kirkwood

With no L2 in Jackson, you are probably out of luck making it to Kirkwood and back twice. Expect it to take 90 miles of range from Jackson to Kirkwood, and 25 miles getting back. Roads are (were) clear this weekend, but with any chance of snow I would hold at least 100 miles range in reserve in...
  2. Heat not working? Fan does not kick on, car does not pre-heat well

  3. HCAC: no airflow through vents, floor or defogger

Take a video. There seems to be a software defect causing this hazardous situation and Rivian need to take it seriously.
  4. Broken defrost in a snowstorm

Sounds remarkably similar to my experience. I too heard the fan running but no airflow. Neither a hard or soft reset resolved the issue, but leaving the car off for 20 minutes did (“sleep cycle”?) I regret not taking a video, and highly recommend you do. Use a tissue to demonstrate the lack of...
  5. Software Update 2023.50 -- Scheduled battery preconditioning & other useful improvements!

Per service escalation of my defrost failure: “[…] improvements to the HVAC software will be available in future releases. It is best to leave the system in Auto mode between 68 and 74 degrees.” I love the improvements in this upgrade, but HVAC is BY FAR a bigger deal to me, as defrost...
  6. Broken defrost in a snowstorm

Thanks for the thought. On the second occurrence I did a hard reset, which I believe stopped the nav (but am not sure.) Your question, however, did make me realize that both times this happened, I had been driving for 1+ hours and the cabin was quite comfortable/warm before I tried turning on...
  7. Software Update 2023.50 -- Scheduled battery preconditioning & other useful improvements!

I’d be happy to do any level of micromanagement if I could guarantee it would work. Unfortunately, per service escalation, not being able to control defrost is “working as designed” (https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/broken-defrost-in-a-snowstorm.22187/)
  8. Broken defrost in a snowstorm

Heard back from support escalation: “System is operating as designed at this time.” I have very serious concerns with an engineering design that disables airflow toward the windshield when defog or defrost is on.
  9. Broken defrost in a snowstorm

Very interesting, and concerning. While I had well over 100 miles of remaining charge at destination estimated in both instances, it is one of the few times I’ve used the vehicle nav. I can possibly understand nerfing comfort controls for the sake of range, but disabling defog/defrost is just...
  10. Broken defrost in a snowstorm

Took my 1 month old R1T up to the Sierra Nevada weekend before last as a bit of a test run. The route to our cabin is about 150 miles from our house, with 8k of elevation gain. We left our house in the evening where it was about 50 degrees, and it was high 20s with light snow showers at our...
