So you don't have a stranger running up after you unlock and hopping into your passenger seat with who knows what intentions.
I let all my doors unlock all at once, but on my wifes Mazda it's better for just her drivers door unlocking with the first press.
My Comma 4 gets here next week, hoping to install it Friday and use it the week after on a road trip. I didn't buy the Lukas harness as I figured I can always add it later on. Going to run just openpilot at first and see how things go.
I really only want the Comma for road trips for the long...
Rivian is clearly doing damage control on the handles, citing a well designed system and the benefits of... child locks....
If I had to guess, most people probably don't even use the child locks on their doors.
I want a door that I can open without power.
I fly airplanes for a living...
It just blows my mind. Never have I heard anyone say "I wish my car had electronically actuated door handles"
I love how they auto stow and pop out when the vehicle is unlocked, but the entire part where you need an emergency release is horseshit.
I don't know how Rivian did the handles on the...
I do too. I have a roof top tent which blocks the 3rd brake light. I know Rivian sells the 3rd brake light extension, but that still doesn't change the fact that the rear turn signals are red.
How many times have you seen an old pickup truck and you have no clue if they're braking or about to turn?
I'm also on a lease and will return it at the end of the lease. The residual value is already above market value and I have over a year left still.
I'll hold out for a Gen 3 R1T and purchase it and hold onto it for a long time.
Careful wheel placement and not going on trails where you'll get damage.
Worst I've done are curbing wheels and pin striping.
Beyond that, rock sliders.
I've done trails with EVs only, mixed, and gas only, and the only difference is the vehicles themselves as far as pros/cons. Powertrain seems to be the least of the differences off road, besides instant torque and no noise from the EVs.
Weight/suspension/size is going to be the bigger things...
Anyone go poking around in any Gen 1s yet? I have premium audio (2024 build) so I’m assuming it’s all the same as Gen 2.
Might have to investigate at some point. Was planning on putting a bigger sub in.
Yesterday I started hearing half shaft failure sounds.
Late 2024 build. Hope they throw in the new design, and I'm going to see if they will do both sides (doubtful on this)
I bought a new phone (fresh install too, so nothing to transfer) and just downloaded the Rivian app, signed into my account, and paired my phone when I got into the truck...
Zero problems, you don't need the old phone and don't need to restore from a backup (most people probably do though)
Every loaner I've gotten has been a huge waste of time, and not good vehicles either.
Uber to Enterprise, sit around for 25 minutes while I watch 2 other people in front of me have some complicated situation that requires the entire staff to fix, and then eventually get a loaner that smells...
5G phones are backwards compatible with 4G networks though. I just completed a road trip through BFE and we saw our phones go from a variety of 5G all the way down to 3G. It's antenna placement/size.
