I only received a hard date when my car was loaded off the train. Then I was able to book an earlier date when it arrived at the service center a few days later. It took around 3 weeks by rail from Illinois to California then another week until I was able to pick it up — Ordered on 1/21 and...
Haha! You’re correct. I ended up deleting since I meant to post it to a different thread.
I did pick it up at the San Jose service center. Super quick and easy. Had to wait ~15min for them to finish getting the car ready. Did a look around the car to note two small minor door alignment issues...
Update! They just reached out and scheduled a pickup date for me (2/27). Was hoping it’d be earlier than that. That would put the end-to-end time at ~5 weeks from order to pickup.

These aren’t really in the Bay Area. I ordered from the shop and it was still at the factory in Illinois. Another friend of mine experienced the same thing.
Ordered from the shop on 1/19 and was also told it was in the factory and it’d be 4-6 weeks to take delivery (NorCal). Haven’t been able to schedule a pickup date yet but was told a few days ago that it left the factory and is being transported via rail.
Same feeling here. We were expecting to pick up the R1S really soon given the 1-2 week estimate in the shop.
By the way, all I’ve heard is mid-Feb. Did your guide or customer service provide you with the 2/13 delivery date?
Here’s my timeline of events which should hopefully be helpful:
I put in my shop order on 1/19 and received my VIN and was able to do 7 out of the 8 steps. My guide told me on 1/22 that my R1S was still at the factory and it’d take 4-6 weeks for it to be ready since it’d be transported via...
