People read too much into the day-to-day news on EVs. Any major transition is going to have it's ups and downs. EV tech - any many buyers - are waiting for one of the many reported battery lab breakthroughs to make it to production. Every report of a 900 mile battery or 10 minute charge...
They will probably send something when there is significant actual news, like a milestone for the factory or the one millionth reservation! They did send me an email telling me I could buy at R1 to move up in priority.
I don't think it is ugly, but I also don't think it is truly in the same market segment as the R3 or R3X will be. It continues the trend of faux "rugged" and "sports utility" evs that aren't. I am just wondering if the Ioniq 5 XRT will do that too.
I guess I was thinking of the R1S, since it is a bit more of a model for the R2. But Rivian's seem like rectangular boxes to me (as do those other trucks). Compared to say some of the mid-sized EV SUVs out there, which have more curved lines.
White Shadow - R2 listed 9.8" of clearance, which is...
I have read many times that high ground clearance impacts range, particularly at highway speeds. And this is why decent ground clearance is so far mostly found in larger EVs, and also why the Solterra range is so poor. Either smaller vehicles are affected more, or larger vehicles just have the...
I don't necessarily love the look of the R3, or any of the Rivians, but I don't hate them either. I love what they do, and I see function over form as a design priority, and I very much respect that.
I recently went on a camping trip in my Bolt, the first of the season. And I forgot my...
I made my R2 reservation but will likely only get it if they are early. My situation is I traded in my Subaru for a Bolt last year because I was ready to go electric and it was such a friggin' good value - home charging electricity is near the cheapest in the country where I live.
But now I...
But doesn't the larger battery give you that option? Just stop and charge 10-60 or something like that, and take advantage of faster rates at lower SOC. Or is carrying around the extra weight the issue?
A Reveal is not exactly the same as an announcement. Assuming that those vehicles on the stage were fully functional, I don't think two years is aggressive. What I hope is that instead it is reliable.
Bolt owner here who made a reservation while watching the Reveal online. Only had the Bolt a few months and traded in a Subaru to get it. I really do need more clearance and AWD and was hoping that might be Equinox EV, but 6.4" of clearance won't cut it. So now I guess I have to wait -...
