Rivian is moving to left rear charging ports, Volvo’s are left rear, gm pickups including Hummer are left rear. Porsche I think runs left year. Lucid gravity moved to left rear. 2025 Kia ev6 moved port to left rear I think. Cadillac Escalade I think is left year. Probably forgetting models...
Pandemic, then the IRA itself was the 2nd hit. That was a big one as just about the time they were up to production none of there vehicles qualified for any tax credits to consumers unless they were price locked which Rivian lost at money on. Now the IRA excludes many EV buyers and didn’t...
With the low interest rate that Rivian will get on this loan I think Rivian should invest it in Tesla stock or Doge coin for a few years. Gains on those will likely exceed the interest rate charged on the DOE loan. Every quarter a 100’s of millions in loan payment is due with a rather...
only chargers that get NEVI funding/government subsidy have to have CCS ports. Tesla only scored 28 million in government funding. It’s why we aren’t seeing any more magic dock superchargers and the NEVI funding will pretty much die on the vine at this point as all manufactures switch to NACS...
I got my adaptor from Rivian since supercharger team layoff. News articles have stated Tesla is up to producing at least 8000 adapters a week from Tesla New York’s manufacturing facility. That’s like 400,000 adaptors a year which is there even that many EV’s in existence that need adaptors...
2025 Kia’s EV6 US built models will only come with NACS port. Makes it a bit more compelling to purchase. Not sure why Rivian can’t reengineer the port like Kia was able to on its existing model. Would make Rivians a bit more compelling. RJ said the Ran will switch to NACS cables when it is...
Why hasn’t Rivian opened up its charging stations to other EV’s yet? Just as well make money off the charging stations. I’ve seen more Rivian’s at Tesla superchargers then I have seen Rivian’s at RANs.
Since Rivian like everyone else is switching to NACS charging hopefully they are building...
And it would kill many of our legacy manufactures gas vehicle lineups. They couldn’t move production to US fast enough.
it the biggest reason I don’t feel tariffs on Mexico won’t happen. Would be detrimental to big oil to have tariffs on Mexico.
Unlikely see tariffs on Mexico imo. It would torpedo the big 3 gas vehicle lineups. Ram for example every HD pick up they make is made in Mexico and have announced some 1/2 ton production moving there. GM has a large presence of Mexico made pickups that they sell in the US. Huge amounts of...
Does Rivian qualify for $7500? Thought it was $3750 and likely to be gone in a year or 2 with increasing battery material sourcing and US content as require by the IRA and not to mention the ridiculous msrp cap and income caps instituted by the IRA. My opinion the IRA has done more to screw...
It might have slowed down but the Tesla charging network is pretty dang expansive the way it is and typically has everything covered. It definitely has slowed but it needed too to make sense unless they want to stack unused and unneeded chargers on top of under utilized infrastructure
Good news that getting rid of the supercharger executives and their assistants didn’t really slow Supercharger deployment all that much. Tesla providing more charging opportunities for EV owners. Well done Elon.
Tesla also grew electricity sales by 27% yoy in the 3rd quarter. While...
Glad Rivian listen to the majority of future buyers. This puts the R2 back on my list when my model 3 is used up.. home charging for most shouldn’t matter where the charge port is cause I believe most level 2 chargers have 25 ft cables or they should anyways to hit most all locations of charge...
I can only speak to what I would do. So your own comfort and liability should dictate what you would do but for myself I would pull main electric panel face off and use a clamp on amp meter to measure circuit/circuits at various times to see if I could find the high load circuits. Like I said...
The older Tesla supercharger in burley is 4 cents a kwh cheaper then the RAN. Also come about September/October it seems Tesla lowers the prices to winter rates through fly over country of Oregon and Idaho. Rivian needs to lower the price per kWh to be competitive with Tesla in many locations...
I think Rivian is missing the boat a bit on the CP/AA. $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year to allowing mirroring your phone on the screen is all Rivian needs to do. If it creates a bit of chaos for the subscribers to adjust their climate controls or adjust suspension or navigate to a charger so be...
Could be! After having a phev I just can’t wrap my head around the financial benefit of them. Horribly inefficient use of electricity and gas compared to BEV’s or pure gas models of the same vehicle. It did open my eyes to BEV’s so there is that.
I had a Volvo xc60 t8. Owned for about 4 years. Most times there was minimal cost savings on running electric when gas was cheap. It was not very efficient at using electricity to move the vehicle and still required all the normal gas powertrain maintenance. It was probably ultimately more...
The one of the main reasons I went with a couple gen 3 Teslas wall chargers in my diy install was that the Tesla chargers accepted #4 copper on the wall charger terminals. Was not willing to have a charger that could only accept #6 and still pull 48 amps of constant load. Don’t like that...
They need to make the dual Motor performance its own package so they sell. Then offer various software upgrades on the standard dual motor that will up the hp in cements but short of the performance numbers. Maybe offer a software upgrade for 585 hp for $2000 and maybe 610 hp for $3000 and 640...
