Seems like all centers are super busy, so total time was 9 days, 6 of which were just my car sitting in their lot. When they actually started the work, it took 2.5 days.

Quality not that great, but you can see that around 23-24 mph, there is no pound whine. There is a video of the original noise posted earlier on this thread. After new FDU.

Like any ev motor they’ll have a small whine, but not like this. It would drown out the radio at its loudest.

The noise is gone! Per El Segundo Service center it was a faulty FDU. They also stated that they are receiving more complaints about this specific issue. I would press them and tell them you test drove another R1S with same motors and no whining noise.

Update: el Segundo service center is finally replacing the front drive unit. Hope to get the car back in a week. Will let you all know if it fixed it.

That is what I was told, that a lot of owners had complained. This will be my second visit in Sept. as there should be a solution for this. It’s crazy that this is even an issue.

You’re lucky. Mine is in Sept, same SC in El Segundo. Let us know how it goes. Perhaps they’ll have an update other than, “it’s a known issue”. Good luck!

Took my R1S DM large pack in for servicing in early April and per their service, this is a known issue. Supposedly they’re working on a fix.

Got my perf dual motor R1S in march. Same loud whine when decelerating from 30mph. Took into service today and drove with engineer. He said this is a known issue and that Rivian is aware. I still plan to escalate, but anyone else hear from Rivian that this is a known issue with the enduro motors?
