Fossil fuels are a finite supply BTW, so we should use them wisely. Light duty vehicles can easily be all electric. Save the Dino juice for air travel, ocean freighters, rail and so forth until energy storage/generation technology is good for applications like those too.
💯 I get that. It seems though the R2 would of come closer to it's stated EPA figures and the MYP would of done better than EPA under less extreme heat. No doubt the ratings can be sand bagged or squeezed thin...I much prefer the former.
Right but the headline is how much lower the R2 is compared to EPA when another test could be much closer. But everyone picks up on this test because you all are YouTubers.
All you're saying with the Tesla there is that it's more efficient. The Rivian would of come closer to it's EPA range without the A/C working so hard and the Tesla would of done even better too if the ambient temps were not so extreme.
Also of note, there's been another range test done on the A/T's which achieved 259 miles (State of Charge) and he didn't even run it down to a dead stop. The temp was 98 degrees and cabin temp of 68 with OOS test.
Same with ICE. The point is, total life cycle of the product regardless of how many owners.
More to your point, perhaps we shouldn't buy so much stuff and hang on to things longer. Oh wait, that's not what feeds the consumption machine ;)
There are numerous studies out there showing BEV's have a much lower carbon footprint over the life of the vehicle. Yes, up front the batteries have a high carbon footprint but it doesn't take long to recoup that by not burning gasoline.
