I’ve got a Champion 6500w, run about 3.6kw, came to about the same here. I did have a problem with the CO monitor doing its job, so cut it off and it can now run in tight, dangerous places like the semi covered truck bed. When in a pinch, it’s worth the extra space for sure.
On another note, I...
Reading the recent riviantrackr.com write up of the soon-to-expand Extended Warranty Here and it says that the Service Warranty (Mechanical breakdown etc) won’t become available in CA or NY? Anyone hear about this or hear something different?
I have a Demo 2022 R1T that I bought July 2024, had 80 miles or so on it. Have about 23,000 miles on it now.
I am from SoCal.
I’ll attach my purchase invoice below.
So far I have been very happy with it. Like you mentioned, it’s great to have the warranty start at purchase. Like someone else...
There are four torx bolts under the tailgate lip that can be threaded through to secure it better. Works well enough, and you don’t need any extra parts to do it.
I haven’t seen this mentioned.
There are four torx bolts under the tailgate plastic that can be used to drill/tap through the trim and lock the plastic in place. I’m away from the truck at the moment but I’ll edit this post later. It’s a casual easy fix for a flawed design.
I was thinking the same thing for my Nephew who is also 14. On reading the FAQ, they state they specifically focused on a 5 star rating for crash testing, so I’m hopeful.
Now to convince him to opt for this instead of a square body pickup, that’s the challenge.
Just wanted to share our set up. It’s not used much at all like this, but it makes for a great alternative to the typical travel trailer.
It doesn’t help that the rig is 4500lb and a high top, but the amenities are great, and a second vehicle when out in the boonies is comforting.
It’s neat to...
I’m running 285/60r20 on a Quad.
I like them. Some decent off-roading in SoCal, and I haven’t had any problems in those experiences.
I generally run faster freeway, mpk in 15000mi ~1.85, and previously I had 5000 on stock 22s, about 2.04 mpk. If I did it again I would have probably just done...
I’ve lived in the rural desert most of my life, I have about a half dozen dirt bikes, and have owned several 4x4s and air cooled vws. The Rivian quad is certainly not a disappointment.
Your expectations of a heavy EV, which is the very first actual off road EV in the US market, which is the...
As someone with a Vanagon and Karmann Ghia, This is a Big miss on price, specs, and lack of a camper version.
How many years has a concept bus been around now? Since the first new beetle? You’d think that the top people at VW would know that their buses and vans are popular because they carry...
We use https://a.co/d/eM5C4Bz
we put it in half full, then pump it the rest of the way in place since it is a tight fit
it works well enough. Like many air mats it can be noisy on shuffling. We use a blanket on top that cuts out that problem pretty well.
I probably would leave the tonneau in place, just drop the gate, and sleep like usual. I couldn’t sleeping in a locked bed, it’s just asking for something to go wrong.
We use a queen size heated blanket, which may take at most 3kwh to run overnight, if not half that.
We use a backpackers tent...
I’ve read somewhere that the RAN in Shoshone is opening soon, so I’d watch the Rivian map to see if it pops up before your trip.
If you are going through Shoshone, a one minute walk from the gas station there are a series of homes built into the wash walls by miners, along with a small graveyard.
Completely agree with the going from and EV to a Gas loaner/replacement.
I have several tickets open for three months to the next service, and though I wish it was soon, it’s not stopping me from just going about my day and adjusting.
As someone who owns several vintage British bikes and VWs...
