bottom line it is a bumper and it should handle a low speed bump. the truck should not have shut down. if the damn electronics didnt crap out i wouldnt have bothered with any repair. now the truck wont go more than 13 mph. thats inexcusable
code of federal regulations title 49 part 581 basically states impacts to vehicle bumpers less than 5 m.p.h. must protect vehicle from broken lights, signals and causing the vehicle to be inoperable. i was backing up and bumped a post and the vehicle shut down. the cause was a sagging wiring...
rivian customer service called me and informed me tow fee would be $800 and that I may have to pay for any repairs required. after sitting here stunned by that info, i called the original repair facility and asked that since the truck is doing the same thing they had recently repaired would...
i've been in touch with a rivian customer svc rep for several days now and he has been trying. i last spoke with him yesterday afternoon and am waiting on a call and an update.
for two years i've had a wonderful relationship with my r1t. then one day, as i was slowly backing into a parking space , i bumped a post. damage to my rear bumper was nothing more than some white paint from the post scuffed my bumper. however, damage to the electronics was flashing red...
rivian still hasnt responded to my email. when they do, i will ask at that time. what concerns me more is what other wires, sensors fuses and relays may be sagging, loose and rubbing. still, with that being said, i cant wait to get my truck home. i have a mini van a motorcycle and a 2500hd...
just got a call from collision repair. apparently there is a wiring harness in there and it had sagged down and was pinched between the plastic and a hardpoint when i bumped the post. they are replacing the entire rear black plastic and 1/3 of the metal applique which is the metal piece...
the bump in scuff was my fault so cosmetic damage is on me. the placement of sensitive electronics (whatever that may be) should be on rivian. bad engineering/design. i added the govt regulation to stress the poor engineering should have been caught during truck development.
just got back from the collision repair facility. i was told they will begin disassembling my bumper this afternoon and text me a staus report sometime thursday. the guy who looked at the truck with me (dont know if he was a manager or tech or what) said the entire rear plastic piece from...
i follow in reddit but havent posted there...
let me see how my efforts pan out over the next few days. pop off the damaged cover, solder in a new module, relay or fuse and voila, it's home by friday. how's that for a positive mental attitude.......
ugh, i just typed a dissertation to you guys and have no idea where i sent it to, so i will try again...
i am heading to the collision repair shop tomorrow to sign the work authorization form. this place is not a formal rivian service center but a smaller facility that is authorized to handle...
