Excellent, thank you.
Page 209 of the R2 manual (I can’t copy/paste from it) makes clear that only Manual Cruise Control (Rivian capitalizes it) is available when towing. It is initiated by pulling the right stalk towards you, and disengaged by pushing it away from you. All it does is maintain...
Thanks, I was thinking that since ACC did the following distance adjustment automatically, maybe regular cruise control allowed some sort of manually controlled following distance.
After 13 years driving Teslas (bought a Model S in 2013) I’m so used to the Tesla ACC being automatic that I...
Sorry, another question that I should have asked earlier. Although Rivian’s adaptive cruise control is not available while towing, does the regular cruise control allow you to manually control the following distance while towing using the up/down scroll wheel motion? Thanks.
Only in the Model 3/Y. In the early Model S/X (including my X) there is a special small stalk on the lower left side of the steering column that controls the cruise control speed and following distance.
Followup question; when using Rivian cruise control in an R2, can one of the scroll wheels be configured to adjust the set speed? I assume that will be the case and that would be very convenient for maintaining safe spacing from the vehicle directly ahead without having to turn off the cruise...
I do not think it is “ridiculous” at all. Although I would like to have adaptive cruise control enabled while towing in a Rivian I do understand why the company only allows standard cruise control. As @Bill Tolar points about above, there are the very real “challenges of calculating variable...
I have an R2 reservation. Would really like to replace my Tesla Model X with an R2.
For the past 8 years I have used my Model X to tow a 2,300 lb RV trailer and it has always allowed me to use what Tesla calls TACC (Tesla Adaptive Cruise Control) while towing. Searching the forums on this site...
For the past 12 years I have only owned Teslas. Currently have a 3 and an X. I will not be buying another Tesla simply because Elon went crazy the year he bought Twitter and he has only gotten crazier since then.
Plan to replace my 2017 X with an R2.
Yes, the CT is a massive sales flop. Elon said they would sell 250,00 annually and Tesla built a line to produce that many. The CT is a disaster by any metric.
+ radars in Rivians.
Elon’s camera only approach seems highly unlikely to ever achieve L4-5 in all weather conditions at a safety level far higher than the average human driver. Currently it is nowhere close to that after a decade of failed promises, every year, that full autonomy was going to...
Happy to see that the Tow Package includes a brake controller. The Tesla Model X has never included on with the Tow Package and I had to install one in my X. Annoying that such an expensive car didn’t include a controller, but Tesla never put much effort into towing capabilities.
The vent positions could be saved as part of the driver profile. Is that not possible in the R1T/S?
Telsa does not save the vent positions as part of a profile in my Model 3, but it should.
Note that the image of the car shows the driver side rear window rolled down. I think the phrase “rear windows” in a 4-door car refers to the side windows for the second row of seats.
I’m glad Rivian made that change from the prototype. I don’t see the advantage of a split tailgate, and I like the one-piece for rain protection when taking stuff in/out of the rear. Good decision.
Agreed. I’ve been driving Teslas since 2013 and very few Tesla owners know what the peak charge rate of their car is or what the peak charge rate of the various Supercharger versions are. All they know is what their car displays as the available range and about how long it takes to charge their...
I’m glad your situation safely resolved itself and that you could carry on with your trip. Definitely get a proper EV TT-30 adapter.
The fact that you were ”persuaded” by ChatGPT to trust its information based on its apparent understanding of your situation is my biggest concern about all the...
